  1. Personally I think your doing great Kev, don't let the the poor Trumpy engine bits get you down as most wont be seen, as a whole when its all finished it won't detract from the finished article. Regards. Andy
  2. With a fresh mind I've had a good look at the offending plastic in question this evening Ron and both UC legs broke in the same place on a glue joint , I remember when I fitted the parts together I thought it a little poor on the engineering side at the time as the plastic is very soft and I suppose with the weight of the kit bearing down with a bit of enamel attacking the joint the outcome was inevitable. With a little patience this evening I have managed to extract the remaining UC leg from the wings and I have a set of metal Scale Model undercarriage legs on there way to from Hannants so all is definitely not lost. Regards. Andy
  3. Yeah Kev your right on one both counts being its enamel and yes an outrageous outcome this evening, had a quick look at Hannants and they have a suitable metal set so will try and get the offending plastic out. Never had this happen before but always a first time, very soft plastic though!! Regards. Andy
  4. Started with a few localized washes this evening followed by a little airbrush weathering. And the underside airbrush weathering started All was going well at this point, went in the other room for half an hour and had a drink and came back to find a major disaster on my hands.......it would seem the MIG wash I applied to the undercarriage has caused a reaction and melted the plastic as I found my Spit sitting on the deck less her undercarriage. . Hopefully I can drill and fit some brass rod to cure this one.........I hope............. Has anyone experienced problems like this, really gutted at this one as the finishing line is/was in site!! On a plus side my Quickboost exhausts arrived today. They are very nice and they will be fitted as I will be getting this Spit finished very soon as I'm not giving up on this one. Comments/criticism always welcome guys. Regards. Andy
  5. Amazing, beautiful workmanship. Regards. Andy
  6. Very nice start indeed.......very much like the etched seat, looking foward to seeing more. Regards. Andy
  7. Looking very nice indeed Iain, very clean build and lovely smooth finish Regards. Andy
  8. Looking really good Kev, nice progress over the Easter break, looking foward to seeing more. Regards. Andy
  9. This is looking so good, very nice work indeed. Regards. Andy
  10. Thanks Henrique, DougN, As the milky patches are now all but gone I think I will continue with the weathering as I dont really want to use future on it or any other model again. As a gloss cote in future I'm toying with using Hannants Xtracolour Gloss as their Flat coat works like a dream, I have also seen/ heard Model Master Ultra Gloss straight from the rattle can gives pretty good results. Regards. Andy
  11. Its been about 24 hours since I last did anything to her and decided I would start my weathering with some oil filters which seem to have helped out with the milky looking patches with most not all seeming to disappear as the oils dried out Compare with the shot I uploaded last night and things are looking much better today. This is how she is looking today, I have a few more idea's up my sleeve to cover the last 2 or 3 problem area's and sI will continue with the heavily weathered look on this one now. Thanks for looking in. Regards. Andy
  12. Very nice work Peter, My local hobby store has a couple of these and I keep thinking about picking one up on and this build may just force me in to buying one Regards. Andy
  13. Awesome work on your landing gear Mal.........attention to detail is perfect. Regards. Andy
  14. Thanks for the comments guys, Thinking about it Sparsanza and Ron have hit the nail on the head with the setting solution that I didn't clean up properly has attached the future but only reared its ugly head once the flory wash went on. After reflecting on it overnight I am thinking along the same lines as geedubelyer in doing a cover up job with weathering which is not what I really wanted to do as I wanted a pretty clean Spitty this time but needs must as I am not putting this on the shelf of doom as I have loved this build so far.
  15. Absolutely amazing work sir, cannot wait to see her finished. Regards Andy
  16. Well unfortunately disaster has struck!!!........bit of a bad day at the bench really, after a coat of future last week I proceeded with a coat of flory wash first thing this morning......so far so good until I removed the excess this evening and ended up with this in places around some of the decals...... As you can see some very nasty milky patches have appeared around some decals whers large quantities of setting solution where used, I always spray using Tamiya acrylics, followed by future and then decals followd by more future then the flory wash.......never had this happen before but any clues to where I went wrong would be very helpful guys........also I really want to move away from future on my next build but not sure which gloss coat to use. Thank you for looking and your comments are most welcome. Regards Andy.
  17. Thanks Peter, I agree with you, I jumped at these decals as I've used Eagle Cals loads of times without issue but this time they where quite hard work to settle.......that being the roundels, tail flashes and large codes, the stencil data performed perfectly as you would expect from Eagle Cals though. Andy
  18. Had a fun day getting the decals on, I used an EagleCals set and went for DW-Q, I'm a sucker for those oversize roundels and code letter's, I think they look so good on the early spit's. Man those decals are thick and took a huge amount of settling down which is really unusual for EagleCals, comments and criticism always welcome. Regards Andy.
  19. Some real progress this week, paint on just waiting for a clear coat today and then decals this weekend...... So far so good and quite pleased with the results so far. Regards. Andy
  20. Finally managed to start painting this bird now after a couple of full on weeks at work, preshade done, thought I'd try adding some random XF-52 sqiggles after my usual pre shade and see what happens, also preshaded the white section of the underside with XF-52. Was'nt sure if the white looked "white enough" to begin with but think its about right, now just pondering how to make sure the black portion is not "to black" now. Comments/criticism always welcome. Regards Andy
  21. Just need to get the cockpit glazing attached and then she is off to the paint shop, have to say I have loved this Revell kit so far and looking foward to moving onto the painting stage. While this one is in the paint shop this seems to have dropped onto the workbench Mmm.....the MDC Hawker Typhoon, I'm viewing this as a long term project and will start a WIP for this one. Regards Andy
  22. Very nice work, lovely looking spit, looking foward to seeing some paint on her. Regards Andy
  23. I have something beginning to resemble a Spitfire now after this weekend's work, Archer resin rivets applied and the wing assembly mated to the fuselage. Thanks for looking and your comments/criticism always welcome. Regards Andy
  24. Really love the texture you have added to the airframe, can't wait to see it under a coat of paint, fantastic work.
  25. Made some really good progress on the cockpit this week, really pleaed with the results after the fight with the harness. Everything fitted together nicely between the fuselage halves, I used no glue with just the location points holding everything together perfectly with the two halves coming together. From what I have read some people have experienced issue's at this point but I am very happy with the fit of the fuselge halves together. Comments and criticism are always welcome. Regards. Andy
