  1. Pretty sure it's a scaled down Hobby Boss kit with all of the terrible shape issue's to go with it, 35th scale aircraft are not my bag anyway and would never ever buy one! Regards. Andy
  2. Thank you and very kind of you regarding the decals!, The Exito Decals are printed by Cartograph so fingers crossed they will be fine. I've used their other 32nd scale 109 set and all was well but let's see! Regards. Andy
  3. Getting close isn't it John, just need to get the rest of the panels cleaned up and fitted. Regards. Andy
  4. Really nice work as always Duke and excellent subject choice! Regards. Andy
  5. They are so good aren't they! Brush paint really nicely as well. I do like Gunze Aluminium for bare metal areas as opposed to the Vallejo colours though. Regards. Andy
  6. Bever used tge AK Extreme Metals John but swear ny their Real Colors range! The Vallejo Metal paints are just superb and spray so nicely but equally brush paint just as well. Regards. Andy
  7. Thank you Mike, time to make a start on getting the smaller bits and pieces painted ready now. I've always liked the early Spitfire's Dennis with the oversized roundels etc, also like the mid/ late Spitfire's with the massive oversized serials on the fuselage sides. Regards. Andy
  8. So plenty more done today with first of all the cockpit getting closed up inside the fuselage halves I then turned my attention back to the wing and fitted the modified ailerons and then the Tamiya wingtips followed by the reshaped HB oilcooler before mating it to the fuselage Starting to come together now and it's definitely much better fitting the wing fillets to the fuselage halves rather than the wing as per the instructions and also sand th lower rear cockpit tub heavily once together to aid the wing fit. Regards. Andy
  9. Thank you Dennis, it's a lovely kit and you will enjoy when you start your copy. Thank you Iian and you are not wrong, 2 layers of pretty thick and pretty hard brass and quite a lot of it was removed so it would fit the Kotare cockpit! Regards. Andy
  10. Thank you, this is my second Kotare Spitfire and getting the hang a bit now as there are a few areas where fit is an issue. Regards. Andy Thanks for checking in guys, it's a nice kit but tricky in a couple of areas on the fit front. Took about an hour to assemble the belts and them fitted them to the seat and let the glue dry overnight followed by a black/ brown oil wash and a flat varnish, hope that helps. Regards. Andy

  12. Thanks Kev, all of the masking has paid off and the usual thing of hours of masking for 5 minutes spraying is true here and really liking this colour scheme. Regards. Andy
  13. A very pleasant evening at the bench and markings completed Stencil data to do but very happy. Super thin Cartograph decals in the Kotare kits and settle really nicely over the raised details with Microsol Set and Sol system. Regards. Andy
  14. Lower surfeces painted today with Vallejo Semi Matt Aluminium And all ready for decals. Regards Andy
  15. Don't think so but need to check but should be reasonably easy to make a blanking plate.
  16. Really nice work and beautiful painting, I wouldn't dare brush paint a model as I would ruin it! Regards. Andy
  17. Much like my B-24 J I'm building. Will need to have a think about how to blank it off. Regards Andy
  18. Can't believe it's over 6 years since I built my G-4 conversion, was a very enjoyable build indeed! Regards Andy
  19. Managed to complete the cockpit assembly today, first up was adding the HGW seatbelts and then fit the Barracudacast plastic seat and armoured backrest to the Kotare frame and then the Barracudacast late control column to the footboards as well as adding straps to the pedals And the rest of the sub assemblies prior to assembly And the cockpit tub together Time to get the fuselage together now and then concentrate on finishing the wing conversion. Regards. Andy
  20. Thanks Dennis, looking forward to getting some markings on now! Also had a play with different Vallejo Metals From left to right is Aluminium, White Aluminium and Semi Matt Aluminium. I've settled on on the Semi Matt Aluminium for the undersides Time for another major masking session tonight. Regards. Andy
  21. A nice quite Sunday morning at home so out with the masking tape in readiness for the hard edged dark green camouflage seen on early Spitfire's and with the masks removed completely Next up is the silver undersides Regards. Andy
  22. It's all in the gloss coat Max, funny isn't it as I hate using your goto method of masks as I just find them painful to use. Regards. Andy
  23. A very enjoyable evening doing my favourite part of a build which is decals, Cockpit all decalled and very happy with the results So with the cockpit completed to this point It was time to file away several mm's of Yahu Mk.V instrument panel which was designed for the terrible Hobby Boss kit which is troubled by very poor shape. Time for a little weathering and then bring everything together. Regards. Andy
  24. So I built my MkI Early kit as per the instructions and had serous issues getting the wing assembly mated with the fuselage. Going this route is definitely better but still very tight. I really don't understand why kit manufacturers have to go this tight on tolerances as frankly its not enjoyable at times! Regards. Andy
  25. Yes it's such a shame Dept of Correction went through as they had some lovely products but very happy I can make the most of the one I have. Regards Andy
