  1. Hoping to thin some sheet to use for placards.
  2. That might work (using two pieces of glass) as well. I'll give these methods a try and report back my findings. Now I just need to oder the plastic sheet from evergreen ASAP.
  3. I have a large piece of thick steel I use for this kind of thing, but the glass sounds like another good idea. Thanks everyone for you ideas. I'll give it a go and report back my findings.
  4. Great idea! I'll do that and face sand it using a sharpie to check my progress.
  5. I have a bit of an odd question, but does anyone know of a good technique to evenly thin plastic sheet? I need to thin some coloured .01" card down to .005" (or thinner) but I need to keep it as even as possible. I know you can get white card in .005", but I also need black, red and yellow in .005". The thinnest coloured card evergreen offers in styrene is .01". My current plan is to face sand it on a flat surface with some sand paper taped down face up, but is there a better way to do this? Thanks in advance, Chuck.
  6. Hey Chuck, you mentioned that it takes about a week for the Tamiya clear to fully dry. What's your method for determining if a paint has fully dried? I'm doing some experiments with various clears and would love to kow how to properly check if they too are dried fully. Thanks, Chuck.
  7. Looking really good there Chuck. Where can a guy get those polishing cloths from online?
  8. Looking good! Please post some more pictures when your able. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who would be interested in buying this kit!
  9. Very nice. Great addition to your fine range of products.
  10. I also use a cheap Chinese one from Harbor Frieght for deep cleaning of my airbrushes and the like. I use a cleaning solution sold locally known as simple green. It only takes a cycle of roughly 2 minutes to remove any gunk that I missed with my regular cleaning process. It's amazing to see the cloud of fine paint particles come out/off what I thought were totally clean airbrush parts when being cycled through the cleaner. Be careful putting the needle in the parts basket though. I dropped mine in one time tip first and without thinking, I bent the fine end of the needle tip! I also placed a small shot glass (with the same cleaing fluid in it) in my parts basket to put really tiny part inside the glass. They get as clean as other items in the ultrasonic and it makes it easier to find them once the cycle is done. Just to agree with what Ian said regarding not putting all the parts in the ultrasonic. It's my understanding that any O ring or plastic parts should not be put into an ultrasonic, as the high frequency waves it produces will cause them to break down prematurely. Other than that, they are a great tool for deep cleaning of hard to reach internal and tiny parts.
  11. Wow! I don't know how many times I've been reduced to that simple expression, but this build seems to have that power over me.
  12. Thanks Vandy. Looking forward to your pics.
  13. Agreed about it being a hot seller. Let's hope it's more than talk AND they take thier time to do it up right!
  14. Wow, that's pretty fine! I guess I'll keep searching for that decal sheet then. Is there any product number or identifying code on the sheet?
  15. Thanks Wolf. Do you think it possible to do the same thing by cutting a VERY thin strip of white decal sheet and applying it as needed?
  16. Junker D.I Single wing, no rigging, easier paint scheme, PERFECT introductory airplane for someone to dip their toe into the WNW's waters.
