  1. The real question is....what is Tamiya's next 1/32 release? Could it be this??
  2. Thanks geedubelyer, I appreciate you taking the time to explain the process. I'll have to give it a try on my F-14
  3. ... finish is outstanding! Romain (or others who may know), please fill me in on just how to achieve that amazing finish.
  4. No one should pay full retail unless they are either foolish or uninformed.... HLJ has them for ABOUT $94.00US (PLUS SHIPPING). Freetime Hobbies in US has them for $139.00. i.e. Tamiya had the new 1/12 Porsche Carrera GT kit for $729.00 retail....I got it for about $285.00 from HLJ pus shipping (about $45.00)
  5. 1:32 scale F-22 Raptor!! It would be awesome to finally have one......come on Tamiya you can do it......I'll even make a 'Chop to give you the power!
  6. According to pictures....it will have both types of cowl flaps
  7. Looks like aftermarket gurus already have and opportunity....I don't see any gun bays (other than the panel lines). Maybe Tamiya felt it wasn't worth the trouble
  8. We should all know by the end of this weekend, but knowing Tamiya and their current engineering level, I'm confident they did it right. Edit: From what Roy Sutherland said, it may have a plug and pose wing setup...plug in up or plug in down. That way you don't have to deal with weak hinges but still still can display it either way. I wouldn't be surprised if they use little magnets to hold in place.
  9. I suspect it will follow along the trends set by it's predecessor. From what I hear, more info will be released very soon on aspects of the model
  10. Well, since you asked....I just don't get the love for the Nazi birds....the 109/190 weren't that visually appealling and they were flown by Nazis. A P-51 or Spit are visually beautiful aircraft and the P-51 was a real hot rod. The Corsair was very unique looking and was a beast in the air. As far as clues....there are several pretty solid clues thru out this thread...when you add them up....a Corsair is the most logical guess. And don't forget.....the power of the 'Chop!
  11. Yes, I know and I should have been more definitive..... the F2 is a Japanese version of the F-16...visually it's basically a little larger version of the F-16 and is based on the "Agile Falcon" version that was never produced stateside. What I was getting at is they are directly linked to Misawa AB where the F-16CJ Wild Weasels help protect the country and the Japanese can identify with them...then you add the fact that the F-16 is all over the world with many countries and you have a 1/32 kit that is pretty expensive, but will sell like hotcakes.
  12. Never going to happen. 1/32 scale is their flagship scale. Just like the 1/12 cars were in the day, 1/32 aircraft get extra effort and resources committed to them because they are the big money makers if they sell. Hence, Tamiya must stick with popular, mainstream aircraft in this scale. And remember, they always take into account the home market in their decisions. Just look at their 1/32 jet lineup. All the aircraft in that line are either used by or were used by the Japanese Air Defense except the F-14 which captured the imagination of the Japanese a long time ago....just look at their Gundam/Transformers...many that transform into a F-14 style jet. The 1/32 WW2 line started with the most revered Japanese aircraft....the Zero. The Zero set the standard and they have built upon that kit with another popular WW2 aircraft every few years, each raising the bar another notch. It is said by those in the know that this next kit will raise the bar again and it will be "spectacular". I too believe that was a clue and along with other clues I've seen both publicly and privately, I think there is little doubt what aircraft it will be. There is always an outside chance it could be a 109/190 since they sell so dang well (why I'll never understand) but the Nazi birds don't fit the clues and info I've seen. My only question is....how many should I buy.
  13. Agree....that's why a Hurricane makes no sense (or cents) for them to do as a 1/32 scale kit when there are several more well known and recognizable aircraft that have not been 'Tamiyatized'. Also remember: they already have research and experience with more popular aircraft in their smaller scales. I can definitely see them eventually doing a P-47. As for now, the Corsair makes the most sense for a multiple of reasons, but I would not count out a 109/190 someday (to which I probably would not buy unless it was a groundbreaking kit).
  14. Agree with others....what a great project ....though you better have room BTW...This story would make a great movie if done right. I wonder if there are plans to do such a thing?
  15. Eggs-actly ....if Tamiya had done those RG subjects, they would be in class well above what RG gives you. You pay for what you get. Tamiya flagship kits are always a premium price because they so well engineered (some say over engineered) and have terrific details and features. I don't mind paying for the level of kit Tamiya puts out....but others do.
  16. Whether you believe it or not....it's happening in a little over two months. I, for one can't wait
  17. Party pooper The truth is Tamiya will announce a new 1/32 kit in May and it will be "spectacular". A new 1/32 kit by Tamiya is always a much anticipated event. Do you really think just the threat of a new kit by Revell or Trumpeter would stir 20,000 views in just a few weeks in this forum? Not even close
  18. I think at that point it's called "HOARDING" .....
  19. What is driving it? It's the fact that we all know Tamiya has been a leader in detailed 1:32 kits almost from the inception of the genre as a main strean modeling scale. We also know that they always raise the bar with each new release. Unlike Trumpeter, Tamiya takes its time and the pace of those releases are slow, but we know that what you get is the best engineered, mass produced injection kit you can get at that point in time. Just for the record....I have no connections to Tamiya and don't know anything more than what others know. I did a 'Chop of the Tamiya Mustang 2 years before it was anounced and one of the Trumpy P-47 before it was known as well. I then did a 'Chop of a Tamiya Corsair in 2010-2011 and am hoping the power of the 'Chop comes thru again. I GOTTA BELIEVE!
  20. But what was it that made them ........drove them to want to measure those aircraft.........it was the power of the 'Chop!
  21. I'm thinking we should start to hear legit rumors and some details next month.... I just wonder what kep ford so long
  22. The Tamiya Mustang blew EVERYTHING out of the water to that point ....engineering, detail and fit wise for a WW2 era kit. Whatever the new kit is....it will raise that bar once again....and it will be "spectacular".
  23. They're thinking... Ghost's PhotoChop's are da bomb ...and spooky acurate!
