Phartycr0c
So having completed our wonderful builds for display, how frustrating is it when an open canopy or a piece of armament gets knocked and detaches itself either accidentally while cleaning or during transport to shows? Out with the glasses and glue in order to reattach said miscreant piece.(s) I got to thinking about this mainly in relation to transportation of models and came up with these https://flic.kr/p/FWjNXV Tiny magnets measuring 1mm across by 2mm deep they are super strong and easily hidden. https://flic.kr/p/CLX8JJ Heres two inserted into the sway braces of a Sniper pod for an A10 im building https://flic.kr/p/CLXbjo Two corresponding magnets in the pylon https://flic.kr/p/ZQgguf other magnets in pylons https://flic.kr/p/ZQghAy et Voila! one detachable loadout https://flic.kr/p/ZQgiYd Taniya use magnets for attaching the engine cowls to the mozzie si I thought "can i develop that idea further" did some shopping and found the tiny magnets. In addition to the payload, i have added a magnet to the canopy to make it removable but able to easily stay in place firmly rather than it just balancing there. Im looking at the possibility of using lager versions for undercarriage and the like. work in progress and food for thought? or maybe not. BiggTim
Thought of that a few years ago, already bought them. Planning to use them to hold on the gun bay doors on my P-38, if I ever get that far... Edited October 29, 2017 by BiggTim Phartycr0c
Zank_Frappa
Niceo, I've thought about doing the same thing. In fact, I used a similar setup to create fully removable cowling on a 1/24 FW 190 d9. BiggTim and Phartycr0c
