Kahunaminor
Hello all, I have been a bit quiet here but working away on a STGB over on BM, another Fw 190 theme. I have chosen the Eduard A-5 boxing. It is well advanced and I am happy with the effort so far and haven't really found any real problems (well none that I will tell bout because they came about through laziness!). The decals went on and being Cartograf, performed beautifully. I did all the stencils first then the individual markings. The only real drama I had was one of the wing upper crosses needed to be re positioned and through ham fisted handling, I botched it up. Considered masking and spraying but it was late at night, so I just reached into the trusty stash for one of the other Eduard 190 kits and replaced the decal: It was then time to get some guns. The Master barrel set has been blackened in Uschi blackening agent and went in without too much issue, one of the wing root forward barrels required dome manhandling and consequent touch up but we now have guns: Next up is more weathering and the final run to the wire. D.B. Andrus
Kahunaminor, When I saw your build I was just finishing a book that featured Egon "Connie" Mayer as one of the main adversaries. I think it may be pertinent to your build in that it provides some context as your build is a part of the era . To Kingdom Come, by Robert J. Mrazek, is a harrowing account of the disastrous 8th AF mission to Stuttgart on 6 Sep 1943, . Mayer's revolutionary technique (having been adopted by the Jagdwaffe) of engaging bombers in "head-on" attacks is described in detail, as well as the devastating results to the B-17s and their crews. Highly recommended read, but be prepared, detail of the combat is not for the faint of heart. Apologies for going off subject. Back to regular programming. Cheers, D.B. coogrfan and Kahunaminor

No worries, One can only imagine the havoc a head on attack would wreak, particularly in the up gunned A8! Regards,
Kahunaminor
Closing in on the finish! Wheels attached and angled. From the photos, the angle of the MLG looks too straight, it is better in real life but they probably could have been a bit better. At least they are equal in all the other axis: Exhaust stains with a well diluted Tamiya Brown/NATO black mix: The spring is from fine copper electrical wire wound about the smallest drill bit I had. Just the inner doors and some oil stains to go and it will be done: Regards, D.B. Andrus and mywifehatesmodels
