Astro32
Hello guys... What is the best flat coat vernish? thanks Rafael My personal favorite is Model Master Flat Clear, sometimes with about 1/3 of their Semi Gloss added, depending on the finish I desire. I thin it with lacquer thinner or denatured alchohol, depending on what I'm overcoating. Future with Tamiya Flat Base works really well too. ChrisS
For Acrylics I swear by Poly Scale Flat Finish. I thin it with Isopropyl at about 50%.
Craig361
Agree with Chris, I use Polyscale flat over everything, you just cannot get anything else that will get that flat IMHO. I used MM until I got ahold of some Polyscale, use nuthin else now
Guest LSP_Jay L
Hi Rafael; Put me down as swearing by Poly-S as well. I also use Xtracolor flat varnish as well, and the only disadvantage it has over the Poly S is the drying time. Cheers mate, Jay
Fancherello
I was used to use ( is that correct english writing ??!!! )Polly Scale flat thinner ( thinned with Tamiya acryl thinner ) but now it's difficult to find it in France. I now use Xtracrylics varnish which is almost as dead flat as PS. I thin it with Tamiya thinner as well ( it avoids white fog that could appear with alcohol and PollyS ) Fanch
KOTR
While I pretty much fail on achieving a glossy finish with my Future-replacement, it works a charm with Tamiya Flatbase.
Haggis
Xtracrylics thinned with distilled water and a drop or two of alcohol. It's seems to me to be pretty much the same stuff as Polyscale but you get a massive bottle for gert cheap which will last for ages. I swear by the stuff. Haggis
All done mate. I only had the chance to take a quick snap before it was delivered to my mate the jammy git who flies the thing for real. There is a pic on the thread in the works section.
