I’ve decided to give the Meng AH-64D kit a try.  This one will be a U.S. Army aircraft from OIF in 2003, specifically 99-5135 from the 1st Cavalry (Option B in the kit decals).  This is the AH-64D that was “shot down” by an Iraqi farmer with a bolt action rifle and landed pretty much intact with the pilots captured.  The action was actually a planned Iraqi ambush that damaged almost all of the AH-64s involved in the action.  I’ve looked at various video and stills from the Iraqi TV showing the aircraft to try to replicate the loadout.  The aircraft was destroyed a couple of days later by a U.S. LGB.
