  1. Nope, that' more than 25% done...you gotta start over. (joke) Looks good and shiny. Cheers, Dave
  2. Matchbox..not sure, haven't poked around it's innards yet, but I will. See what turns up. Okay, would really like to do an Atlantic bird, but all I can find is VS-37. Was that it? we the SBDs primarily relegated to Pacific duty? Cheers, Dave
  3. Uh-oh, the big, 1/24, guns! Started before the staring gun? OOOooooooooo! Cheers, Dave
  4. Nice, I like the rugged little bird. Cheers, Dave
  5. Here is my choice, not sure of how the decals will be, so that might be item that gets changed out. Besides, I'm toying with the idea of an Atlantic bird. Cheers, Dave
  6. Okay, while the cowling gets dealt with, this arrived today. Really - honest....this and the seatbelts, the only AM items....and this being used is TBD. I was reading the directions on this item, ummm, can I mask and paint these like normal? Cheers, Dave
  7. YAY....it's AOOB Eve!! tick-tock
  8. As in a PBY?!?! In 1/32?!?! Really???!! Oh please do that!! (or the Il-2 in a dirty winter scheme...I want to learn how to do that. I have a Tam. Do-335 with heavy armament that I want to do that to.) Just my $.02. Cheers, Dave
  9. "Ooo, this is turning out to be a very difficult scheme to paint." Whatever Picasso. Cheers, Dave
  10. Looks great! Really like the late MiGs and the Flankers. ( Have a soft spot for the MiG-3 though..looks liker a racer.) AWESOME choice for scheme...Those schemes make me skeered. Cheers, Dave
  11. Love the look of the torps, really nice!! Cheers, Dave
  12. Looks good...not many do this in the Army livery. Cheers, Dave
  13. Thank you for the input gentlmen. I'm at work right now anyway. I'm stuck right now in the sense that I am unable to get any Tamiya stuff @ LHS because of some new labeling rule/law. It has to match Califirnias warnings now or something. Really want to get the Mr. Surfacer. Not quite ready, skill-wise, to attempt a rebuild. Will go to LHS to see if they have Milliput or a rough equivilant. (They should have an air hose in for me by now anyway... Honey, I have to go to the hobby store.) Cheers, Dave
  14. Was tossing the idea of a 1/28 Fokker Tri-Wing by Revell. But then I was really looking at my Trump MiG-3, and my MiG-21, AHHHHHH, I have a closet full of stuff to play with...Oh, and I am reading Hell Hawks, (ISBN 978-0760329184) and I have 2 Hase. P-47 to play with. Am I the only one that really sits there and has trouble deciding what to do next? Cheers, Dave
  15. Anyone else giddy about this? I have it narrowed down to 2. UHG! Cheers, Dave
  16. Okay, not much this time, but hey, I got to use the Dremel! With the information that Mark, Dodgem37, provided, I decided to replace the bulge with the bulge double bulge. I now am asking for advice on how to tidy up what you will see below. Thank you for stopping by and for any and all advise provided. Cheers, Dave
  17. UGH! When is this getting here?!?! (if there was one of these that was pulling it's hair out, I would have used that one.) Cheers, Dave
  18. Yes they are...and I'm really diggin' the 1/24 scale, like the size.
  19. Okay, here we go. Been a bit..last weekend was overtime and the 'honey-do' list. But here...okay, here is a shot of the instructions and the parts that I removed. After seeing the picture that Mike M. took of his 109 out back of how the shoulder harnesses were attached, I changed out the instruction parts for some different ones that looks a lot closer to the information provided. Thank you Mike M. and I even made little loop things so the shoulder harnesses are movable as you can see below. In the plane.... out of the plane.... More or less formed in. Wings and elevators attached now. taped parts, and guns....ooooo scary. Still not sure about leaving open or not. Wheels, I hope they look better...I sanded the tire and adjusted the paint of the 'rim' per the advice of DougN. Thank you. And here's one that I picked up at the Goodwill for 2 or 3 bucks, that I tinkered with. AWACS do not remember the scale. Until next time, Cheers, Dave
  20. VERY NICE!!! Way to go. My paint test is approaching. Cheers, Dave
  21. I get it, this is a sub-thread under Almost OOB GB. Such as when we each have our own building threads...Sorry for the confusion, I'm a lefty and was thinking in a dyslexic sort of way. I'm leaning towards the MiG-21MF w/Swordfish, but not positive yes. Cheers, Dave
  22. "You just can't start one yet, until 1 July" Ohhhhhh...okay.
  23. Oh, well, the title of the thread is "Rules of the Road" instead of "The Official Almost Out of Box GB" or "The AOOB GB" thread. (On is supposed to be Oh.) Simply what I have become accustomed to here. Cheers, Dave
  24. AH HAH!! It did exist! Thanks Martin. (Is it just me, or is that an odd choice for "nose art"?) Cheers, Dave On, and is this the official thread so I can "follow" or will there be a different one initiated?
