  1. Tires now given a spritz of Gunze black lacquer (gloss). The irony of my paint choices is that the Gunze German gray is considerably darker than the Tamiya German grey, but not quite dark enough for the tires, and the Gunze tire black is almost a dead match for the Tamiya German grey, so I've had no choice but to go black. After weathering/dirtying/dull coat they should look fine though (I hope).
  2. Happy B-Day, Martin as well as all the other birthday boys!!!
  3. Just for giggles I used AutoCAD to draw the tires and rims, just to illustrate the point better.
  4. For those that care to know, I discovered why the rims have the six extra holes, it’s so that either six spoke or eight spoke wheels can be bolted to it. Once you look at the geometry, that becomes perfectly clear.
  5. Oh Boy, new toy! I've been wanting one of these for ages now.
  6. My first attempt to vary the color came out too "airbrushy", so I toned it back down with Tamiya German grey. Believe it or don't there are actually two different shades of grey here but it's "very" subtle, which is exactly what I wanted.
  7. Cool. The very first Tamiya kit I ever owned was the Bulldog. I remember being mesmerized by the detail.
  8. Nice! Which Walker Bulldog kit is that, Jim?
  9. Some much needed paints and such arrived today, so tonight I'll resume painting on this bad boy.
  10. I've never ordered from these folks before, not until June 24th anyway. I received an item shipped notice, but when I check the link it says order being processed. Anyone here ever dealt with them before, and what was your experience? Thanks a bunch,
  11. Fortunately for me I have a good sized pile of already started bases, so I dug one out that's perfect for this model. A few more coats of poly and I'll be ready to add groundwork.
  12. I love the metal finish, some of the best I've seen. Any tips on how you accomplished that finish?
  13. Texture paint arrived today so I have now spritzed the base with it.
  14. Nice! I'll look forward to more.
  15. That Mustang looks awesome. Thanks, Kev.
  16. It seems that some of the round items on the hull front are actually raised, so some punched discs fixed that right up.
  17. More refinement now done to the sail. I may or may not add more 'scopes, assuming I can find them. Hard to believe two guys will fit into that small rectangular opening at the front, but that's what I intend to do.
  18. One thing I'm frequently guilty of, is getting in a rush to glue things before I should. All six of these fins were added before I cleaned them up, so I now I have to do that while they're in place and it's now three times as much work as it should be, darn it.
  19. Pin marks now all dealt with and base glued together. I've ordered some black texture paint for it (that'll cover any boo-boos as well as look pretty neat). I also ordered a cool Model Monkey nameplate for it.
  20. Looks excellent. I completely missed the wiring until it was too late to add it. Your welds look great and I like the mod you did to the muzzle brake. Any problems with the nasty wheel seams? On my next one I'll be adding the brake light connection at the end of the trail again (though more accurately), but since the version I'll be building had no actual brakes, I won't bother with the hydraulic connection. I'll also use AutoCAD to draw up recoil and elevation gauges.
  21. My Seawolf will be on the base that came with the kit, but definitely weathered to give it some character.
  22. I'm fairly sure that Kriegsmarine figures are available in all standard sizes.
  23. I love those stanchions.
  24. Happy B-Day, Pete!!!
  25. Cool choice. I had lots of problems with mine, but mostly of my own making I think.
