  2. Look at the lineup of those who "like" this post. They have been wrong about this MpM project coming to market for years now. When I originally stated that this project would take a very long time, some people got all over me and our kit of the Tempest. Well, I had lots of unpleasant experience with them on 4 projects. Unauthorized changes to my masters, i.e. the spinner on the Macchi C.202 was completely changed and wrong. The pebbly surface on the 202 and 205 was their doing. 18 month late on the 1:48 C.200 kit. The list goes on and on. So if I have a "shoddy attitude" toward them, there is complete justification for it. If, and I do mean if, they bring out the Tempest kits, well good for all of you who have been waiting and waiting for them. We sold out of ours and for that, I thank all of the great modelers who do support PCM and me. Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night! Ken Lawrence
  3. Greetings, It has been a long time since I visited this site. I am shocked, shocked to hear that the MPM Tempests are not out yet. How many years has it been now? Someone said "Spring", but did not specify the year? A large number of people had bad things to say about me about this subject, but this all simply proves that I know my MpM. As unpleasant as they can be sometimes, facts are still facts. As someone who experienced long delays in projects with them, I sympathize with you. Merry Christmas, Ken Lawrence
  4. Greetings, HKM 32 01E15 now in stock and shipping! Retail $169.95. www.pacmodels.com Thanks, Ken & Mary Ellen PCM, Inc.

  7. Greetings, The Old News is that for any of you who have our kit and have not built it, there are replacement parts available (free of charge, post paid) for the spinner and the radiator bulkhead. Please check the wheel well insert as it may be warped. If it is, it will be very evident. Replacements are available also free of charge. If the fuselage halves or wings are warped, (which has rarely occurred), please inform us and we can send replacement pieces. The New News is that we are out of stock of this kit. We are interested in re-issuing it if we can get pre-orders for 200 or more. 300 is the minimum threshold for production. We are changing our catalog to read "TAKING PRE-ORDERS!". So we appreciate all of you who bought our kit, especially any of you who bought 3 or more of them, and hope that there is enough interest so that we can re-issue them. We will be informing all of our hobby shop customers about this. Thanks and Merry Christmas, Ken & Mary Ellen Lawrence Pacific Coast Models, Inc. www.pacmodels.com info@pacmodels.com
  8. Greetings, Sorry to hear that it was a piece of CRAP. Did you have a warped wheel well set and/or an oversized bulkhead? If so, replacement parts are available at no charge. You must be one heck of a modeler to take a piece of CRAP and have it come out "rather nice". Congratulations. Best Regards, Ken PCM, Inc.

  11. Greetings! I thought it went "When you laugh, the whole world laughs with you!". I based my statements about their announcements on their track record and my personal experience with them. At the time, many people agreed with me and now I suggest that you just keep watching to see what, if anything, happens with these "kits". Our policy is that when a new PCM kit goes into production, we announce it and not before then. It seems to me that all kit makers should have the same policy, but they don't. This results in bad feeling towards them. Best Regards, Ken PCM, Inc.
  12. Greetings, KittyHawk has announced their newest 1:32 scale kit of the USAF OV-10D "Bronco" (KH 32003). 17. Greetings, <<Shortly as I've used it would mean soon, but lacking that defined meaning as "real soon" say?>> Say "real soon" as in 6-12 months more time, then say "maybe or maybe not" based on their history? <<There are numerous photos of the kit edging closer to release,...>> Has anyone seen more than 5 or 6 photos of what appears to be a solid carving? If so, please inform us where we can see them. The use of the word "edging" is really quite accurate. <<...yes I know it's probably about a year later than they said it would be initially,...>> Has it been only a year? It seems so much longer than that. Does anyone know when it was first announced? <<...but there's little point getting all het up about it, they'll be released when they are.>> That is exactly the point. Don't you mean they'll will be released IF they are released, given the record. <<Using the word elastic and indefinite would have been crass and poor English,...>> Both words are accurate in this case. <<...you've evidently got an agenda there, but I don't.>> My agenda is clear. I object to people making statements which are mis-leading and not factual. <<It really is nonsense to say that isn't based on fact, did I give a definite date when the kits are to be release? The Revell Spitfire II is due for release in two days time, but the world might end tomorrow, so that wouldn't be a fact either, but we can only say such in retrospect, no?>> This is nonsense. <<I think the kits will be superb going off the photos I've seen, that's my honest opinion which I'm entitled to, as other people are theirs, live and let live, no?>> If you have seen or know where we can see these photos which show that it will be a "superb" kit, please share them with us. <<I was being sarcastic calling all the British aircraft ugly, it's a terrible trait especially for those living in Manchester, England, this was in reference to Alan's post #22.>> Not everyone would think so. <<It's rather disingenuous of you to presuppose I lack the ability to think logically and that when I see photographs of master of a model in the making which rivals one of yours...>> I didn't pre-suppose it, I concluded it from what you wrote. Oh no, a "superb" kit would not rival our kit, it would be superior to ours as it would be almost perfect in every area. Dimensions, accuracy, ease of assembly, clear and easy to follow instructions, Cartograf decals designed by a master designer and checked by an expert for accuracy. Color painting/marking instructions, also printed by Cartograf, on heavy high gloss paper to resist spills on it. PE by Eduard. Even really good box art would be there. Based on past experience, it seems unlikely that if a MK.V, series II appears, it will rival ours. <<...I enter a Wonderland-like state where those facts are a psychedelic imagining which hold no weight in the real world. Maybe the world is flat after all?>> If the shoe fits... <<You're certainly not stepping on my toes, but I do find your oh-so-obviously pedantic posts infinitely tiresome.>> Apparently not as you have spent a great deal of time responding to it. I have been called a lot of names, but never pedantic, so I looked it up. It means "narrowly, stodgily, and often ostentatiously learned, unimaginative, dull." It doesn't seem to me to fit me. And since I have been around for a lot of years and I have only been called this by you, I must conclude that it is not descriptive of me. <<Is that the kettle I can hear boiling..?>> It must be your kettle as I don't use one. Thanks for the fun and Best Regards, Ken Lawrence
  18. Greetings, <<Has anybody heard of any success or tried contacting HK for a replacement part? I'm afraid that "Don't hold your breath" may be the common theme for an answer. Hope not, but.....>> The best method I know is to contact the hobby shop from whom you bought the kit. They can contact their distributor who may have the pieces needed in stock. If not, the distributor can get them from HK. Makers prefer this method as they can make 1 shipment of replacement parts for all the customers who needed them. Thanks and Best Regards, Ken Lawrence Pacific Coast Models, Inc.
  19. Hello Darren, <<Same price as the J's through the big Asian shops.Gouging on prices in the USA on Asian produced kits by Wholesalers..would never happen...lol.>> Please be assured that there is no "price gouging" by wholesalers in the USA on the HK kits. I don't know what the landed cost is in other countries. I do know that the U.K. and Europe have a steep Value Added Tax of over 20%. Best Regards, Ken
  20. Greetings! We are happy to inform you that we have received both the Standard version (HKM 32 01E03) and the "Deluxe" version of this "Gunship" kit in our warehouse. The pre-orders are being shipped this week. We have only a small number left in stock, so now is a good time to order one. Thanks and Best Regards, Ken & MaryEllen Lawrence Pacific Coast Models, Inc. www.pacmodels.com info@pacmodels.com
  21. Hello Jimmy, <<Did you miss the part where you happen to be selling the kits in question?>> Yes, I did miss that part :-). <<Isn't it in your best interest to have the consumer think that they are indeed limited run kits?>> No, we at PCM, Inc., want modelers to know the facts. When it comes to the plans of kit manufacturers, there is a tremendous amount of speculation and guessing. If modelers know that they can look to PCM, Inc. for accurate information, they will be confident in knowing what is really going on. <<I don't intend to be belligerent, but I don't think it's in any way guaranteed they won't re-release any of these kits at some point...be it 10 years from now. Even HK could say they won't...things change.>> Your message wasn't taken that way. I explained the decision making process. People can judge the possibilities of a kit being re-issued if they know the process. <<Edit to add: I sincerly need to stress I in no way intend to be negative toward you, Mr. Lawrence...just my view.>> Understood. No negativity taken. Best Regards, Ken PCM, Inc.
  22. "Any word on the HK B-17F? Thanks. Bill M." Hi Bill, Nothing firm yet. We are waiting too. Thanks and Best Regards, Ken PCM, Inc.
  23. "I will believe in HK as a mainstream manufacturer once they release something on their own; in other words a kit that wasn't already in the hopper when the WingScale split took place." Hello Bob, Please prepare yourself to become a believer soon. "They will all likely be re-released once stock is gone and demand is back up. It may take a couple of years but they aren't going to dispose of molds that they spent resources on. Hello 3Putt, First, how will they know if demand is back up? The only method they can use with confidence is to announce to their distributors a re-issue of the kit with a reserve order quantity. Then ask for firm orders and see if they get enough quantity to begin production. This presumes that they have time in their existing production schedule to make a re-issue production run. Second, each kit has a minimum production quantity which must be run to keep the unit production cost equal to or lower than the first production run cost in order to hold the original retail price. Costs of raw materials, production labor, transportation, new kit boxes, shipping cartons, decals, marking & painting instructions, assembly instructions, PE, packaging, advertising, promotional samples and shipping costs must be calculated in order to justify a re-issue. Then their distributors must give them firm orders which total quantity requirements. If there is not enough order quantity, then no re-issue. You are correct that they will not dispose of the molds in such a way as to render them unuseable. They might be able to use some of the molds to make other variants. Even waiting some years may not generate enough firm orders to do a re-issue. The person who said if you want it, buy it when you, can has the right advice. Thanks and Best Regards, Ken Lawrence Pacific Coast Models, Inc.
