  1. Does anybody know when Trumpeter's Mig-21 came out? Would it qualify in this group build? Sincerely, Crash
  2. Was there ever a conversion for the F4U-5N? Those flat black Corsair's look to cool. Crash
  3. Is there a fix? I noticed the Hasagawa kit has two canopies. Can I use one of those to fix the issue? Crash
  4. As I stated in a previous thread, I am a reference junkie! After scanning through a few walkarounds on the Corsair, I found this pic: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1...369_qagm_25.jpg This looks like the best pic I could find showing the demarcation line. BTW, check out these walkarounds if you have the time. http://rides.webshots.com/album/559306986IzdhML?start=60 http://www.ig-corsair.de/Walkaround%20Red%20Bull1.html http://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/f4u/f4u_walk.shtml http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1...air/walk136.htm http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1...t2/walk136b.htm http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1...t3/walk136c.htm Hope this helps, Crash BTW Thanks for the backup Charles. Always good to have someone else on your side.
  5. Well...... I don't know for sure. Here's my take on it, and how I'm going to build mine when I get around to it. Every Corsair I've seen in person, which are restored, seems to be painted both. It seems that the inside of the cowling is painted GSB back to a point even with the cylinders then green after that. the best pic I have found is here: http://agapemodels.com/wp-content/uploads/...lkaround-31.jpg and here http://data.primeportal.net/hangar/bill_sp...u-4/F4U-4aw.jpg You have to look hard for the demarcation line. One of the photo is for a F4U-5, but I've had the opportunity to look into a -4 at an airshow, and it looks the same. But just for the record, and to be completely fair this -5 has the wing folds painted white. I've never seen that in pics of wartime Corsair shots so it may not be totally accurate. http://agapemodels.com/?p=1243&cpage=1 Sincerely, Crash
  6. Chris, Gotta ask. Is there anything wrong with Trumpeter's P-47N? I got one of those today for a good price. I WILL build a P-47 in ANG markings, if it costs me every single penny I have. Any website that lists what ANG units flew which verion of the -47? Pics would be great too. Crash
  7. Thanks for all the replies. Jeff since I have the cockpit and engine built, it's to late for a trade. Thanks for the offer though. Tim, thanks for the tip. Any recommendations for a cockpit? I think Avionix has one. Once again guys, thanks for the help. Next time I'll plan a little better. Like I said I don't build WWII stuff. Just thought it would make a quick and easy build to break up a slow spot. Crash
  8. Thanks for the link Chris. That is very interesting, but I was hoping to find a more representative P-47 Scheme. I find it hard to believe the -47M didn't hang around after the war. All the info I have fount on the www says it was a great plane. I don't really build WWII planes (ducking for cover), I consider myself a jet guy but I got this kit dirt cheap and just thought it would be a good quick build. If he had a -47D I would have gotten that one but it was the -47M or none. The kit does have a NMF version that looks more like a showbird with a big red and black "ZemkesWolfpack" on the nose (Z-UN #421175). Sincerely, Crash
  9. I am looking for P-47M markings for the Hasagawa kit. I've got kit number 08181 P-47M Thunderbolt '56th FG Wolfpack'. I don't particularly like either of the versions offered. I was wondering if the -47M was used by the Air National Guard post war or perhaps, one of the more "regular" P-47 schemes (NMF or OD over gray). Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA, Crash
  10. Engine looks really nice. Is this the Trumpy F4U-4? Any idea on markings? The -4 Corsair is one of the few WWII kits that I might be coaxed into building. Crash
  11. Here is a few thats worth a look: http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/bill_spi...f-105g_63-8320/ http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/bill_spi...f-105g_62-4427/ http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_colin3/f-105g_62-4427/ HTH, Crash
  12. Go Barry, Go Barry........ First F-8 build that I've seen. I am watching this one. I don't know much about F-8's. I tend to stick to more modern subjects. If I build an F-8 it will probably be a French F-8P, which looks to me to have the said bulges..... http://frenchnavy.free.fr/aircraft/crusade...image-00001.jpg http://frenchnavy.free.fr/aircraft/crusade...image-00135.jpg Here's hoping Trumpeter comes out with a RF-8....... ooooo, wouldn't that be nice! Crash BTW F-8P Walkaround in all its glory for those interested http://frenchnavy.free.fr/aircraft/crusader/walk-around.htm
  13. I followed that build! Absolutely beautiful! I can't find those grey stencils from Icarus, only black and white. Is there another manufacturer for Grey F-4 stencils? Crash
  14. Russ, This is simply mind blowing work. You are truly an inspiration! A couple of observations: I think on the slatted F-4's the flaps dropped with the leading edge slats. I also think the outer wing tips were different on the F-4S. Kinda like the ones on the F-4E. If you have the CAM slats I believe they give you the wing tips. And one request: You've just gotta fold those wings! That way you can see the underside of those slats! Like this one: http://www.5053phantoms.com/photos/display...&fullsize=1 Once again, stunning work. Sincerely, Crash
  15. Agreed, but they've got to be training! I doubt they'd buy litening pods without having an idea of using them with something. Crash
  16. Well I guess I'm going to build a F-4E AUP. I've got the Icarus Decals on order, searched the internet, got the SAM and Greyhound books (read twice). I found this pic, that I like a lot: So, it's carrying a Litening Pod. What else would it carry? I'm hoping to use some weapons out of an Academy F/A-18 or F-16 kit. Out of all the pics I've found, I can't seem to find any with something that goes boom! Phantoms don't look good clean! Crash
  17. OUTSTANDING! Now to make sure I understand this, I need the stencils in white to do the Ghost Scheme? Sheets 32004 and 32002? The pics I have the stencils look gray. Thanks so much, Crash
  18. Have you ever just had one of those projects that doesn't seem to want to be built? For the first time in about ten years, it looks like I'll be able to go to the IPMS USA nationals in 2009. I'm going through the stash, seeing what I have to build. I really fell in love with the Greek F-4E AUP scheme, and I happen to have a Revell F-4E Mig Killer kit. I've managed to download some pics from the internet, and even found a couple of books (SAM and Greyhound, thanks Sprue Brothers), but now I can't find any decals. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. Here's a pic of what I want: Any Help would be greatly appreciated, Crash
  19. Harold, Looks absolutely gorgeous. I think I need to get some F-100 stuff for my QF-100D. Crash
  20. Nice builds. I especially like the MiG-21. Crash
  21. DMunne

    F 8

Any hints at a RF-8 to come? Call me crazy, but the TPS Gray RF-8's were always my favorite. Crash
  22. Another vote for Mike Grant's Decals. I've got both sets, and use them on every build. I got mine from Sprue Brothers. Crash Here's a couple of pics in use:
  23. Here is a nice walkaround that me be of use to you. From primeportal.net http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/domeric_barbot/p-51d/ Sincerely, Crash
  24. Frederick, That looks wonderful. Any chance your making some spares of that canopy? Please! Crash
  25. 25sqn Like this. New scheme with four pylons. Or this one. Old scheme with Gray stripe on tail. Check this out to. Love this video: Crash
