  1. Yes, noticed this too. Perhaps subject to change though, but apart from this and the Instrument panel, it all look pretty damn good at this stage.
  2. Looks amazing for sure, Airfix sure seem to have nailed the stressed skin effect, couple of thoughts and yup its early productions shots ... but the IP? it looks really soft, especially for 1/24 scale, am I missing something there? does the real one really look like that? the other thing was some of the riveting seems a bit heavy to me, but am no expert on this Aircraft type at all and of course know these are early shots and subject to change. Its been a long, loooooong time since I have built anything Airfix 1/24 but have noticed how good the Mosquito and Typhoon were from other folks build reviews, would have preferred 1/32 for this subject of course but might just go for this ... again would have preferred a tri colour option, but not applicable to the version this kit depicts I read here ... fair play on that too. Is there any midnight blue paint out there for this kit? Tamiya often release their own shades for new kits, but just thinking I'd need a fair bit of it if I were to buy the kit and would prefer not to mix it for correct shade
  3. If Airfix are going to carry on this trend I'd like to see them do a Wildcat.
  4. It looks a great kit, most unexpected release, just hope it does not stop Tamiya from producing a 1/32 one if that was on their schedule, Airfix's Mosquito never stopped Tamiya producing their own, or HK ... so maybe. Otherwise ... am tempted on this one.
  5. We'll know soon I guess, still waiting for sprue shots, but if indeed that is corrected and all is as good as recent Revell releases ... its a great price and will be a good seller, love the scheme they have chosen too so here is hoping the decal quality is good too.
  6. Why pay that when you can get it for £20 less here? https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/revell-f-a-18e-super-hornet-04994-1-32-aircraft-model-kit/ Dealt with these guys many times afore, they are fair traders with fast delivery too.
  7. This month perhaps. According to Jadlam in UK, price £59.95 discounted from £69.95, this release was delayed, perhaps because of the noticeably wrong spine shape and flat profile? the pictures in this link might be old ones, so not sure if this has been remedied or not? I'll wait until I see sprue shots first before deciding, but it would be a nice Christmas present treat if it is corrected for release. https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/revell-f-a-18e-super-hornet-04994-1-32-aircraft-model-kit/
  8. I've built most of the Airfix 1/24 from my younger days, built the Harrier when it was released in 74 or 75 and would have been 14 or 15 back then, we were living in Germany with Dad serving at RAF Wildenrath where they flew the GR1 Harriers at that time, had built all the releases before that too inc the Spitfire when it was first released, so must have been 12 or so for that kit ... damn I feel old now, never built the Mosquito or Typhoon though, just not my scale. I wish I could be so prolific building kits now as when I was a kid, they were no sooner bought with my pocket money and then rushed home for an immediate start and I never stalled on a build back then either, stashes were unheard of Out of all the realistic suggestions I've seen in this thread, probably the Gladiator seems best and would be severely tempted to break my no 1/24 rule for that, would love them to do a 1/24 Buccaneer or GR-4 Tornado or even Jaguar but thats not gonna happen.
  9. Awesome, big fan of the Tornado GR4, looking fwd to this
  10. The WnW Lancs are going to be what me might call a "flash" sale, anyone who is half thinking on on one, who has not pre-ordered one is going to be out of luck if they imagine they can pick and choose one for best price after kit release. Mark my words, these Lancs are going to sell like hotcakes.
  11. Cheers Martin, not a blog person but do love Motorcycles , would love to see the Vincent, scale Motorcycle kits of any vintage, 1/6 scale you say? built a few Tamiya kits in this scale, rebuilt a few of my 1/1 real bikes after crashing them, but thats another story
  12. I personally think both the HK and WNW kits will sell out faster than we think, did not the HK B-25's (glass nose nose) sell out and first edition of the B-17, not sure about their Mosquito? Tamiya gave them some stiff competition there, even though different varients. Also RE Pricing, cant be comparing profit margins and traditional production sprue costs ETC when we talk about WnW, this is Sir Peters passion and he can offset that somehow, he's not short of a few bob, especially for short run kits ... also I'm pretty sure the claims I've seen he wants to blow HK out of the water with his own 1/32 Lancaster's are without foundation ... has he not said for a long time he has no plans to do a WW1 Fokker Dr.1 because Roden already make a pretty good one ... the coincidence of the two Lancasters is nothing more than that, a pure accidental coincidence IMHO and not worth working up into a conspiracy Having said that ... I personally believe both factory's might be revising down their production run a little after realising another factory is going to be releasing something similar too ... albeit almost a year apart, HK especially will realise many of us are going to wait a bit longer for WnW ... its all very unfortunate but purely coincidental IMHO. They will sell out from both factory's I'm sure, but might take a little longer than before and also we might as consumers experience a bit less price gouging as a consequence? We shall see, its not all doom and gloom and us consumers might actually benefit more because of this dual factory release ... a dual factory release that has happened many times before as has been mentioned
  13. One thing that can not be denied, this topic started by Seiran on 28th of Sept just a few weeks ago, wow when I read it I had to do several double checks, body pinches too, we knew HKM's kit was already announced, then news filtered in that WNW had a Lanc in the works already But keeping it good, keeping it cool. HKM or WNW, its LSP news of the century, Tamiya ... you drama queen keeping us waiting and teased for so long for something new fed up waiting for your next one, WNW and HKM Lancaster 1/32 and choices too are here for us while you mess about in other scales These are good times, this thread alone has 36 pages already ... Thanks Seiran, colossal amount of views and hits and several other Lancaster Threads too, here and all over the various modelling forums, this is big news, big exciting times for all of us. Thank you HKM and WNW for spicing up 1/32 Large Scale Planes and Modelling, it was getting a bit stale, now its fresh again
  14. Interesting Poll, thanks to who all that participated, its nothing scientific or anything, just a rough gauge of things, but thanks.
  15. This is not true Jennings and you know it, please provide a source of this because all reliable info is pointing to WNW having first research on this kit.
  16. Fun Poll closes tomorrow ... reminder
  17. That was not my quote James, it was another guys .... But to indulge this. OK, there were soft edged round, rotund, cylindrical, curvy, stuff too in my viewing too, IMHO ... IN MY HONEST OPINION ... I think, I guess and suppose ... (analysis indeed?) Cmon!!! I can extract the urine too guys That was not an analysis, it was my opinion I probably never described too well ... but I dont do brand loyalty, no way. How could it be? This is getting silly and we are mis quoting each other now and in danger of falling out and going tribal ... Jeeez, I can debate with my Motorcycle friends all day long about that stuff and feathers never get ruffled, but log onto the internet and Cyber model talk and it can be like treading on egg shells if we differ on an opinion over a scale model kit, so many fragile ego's ... I'm not joking! And I stay with my and some others opinions, the detail on the HKM does not look that sharp and defined to me, obviously still excellent, but with a WNW Lanc on the way to me, Well, what can you do but just feel sorry for the whole coincidence ... glad I've chosen to go with WNW for my Lancaster. Have at it if you like but I'm not adding any more to this.
  18. It was more about soft as in undefined or should be defined I suppose that the original comment came from, but perhaps the softer photography style too? ... nobody mentioned round vs square, funny stuff though Dont worry, we'll all have fun with our Lancaster's no matter the kit we choose.
  19. I think its great WNW have strayed from WW1, but probably and finally, we need to see at least the Dr.I done well before most of us can accept any real moving on, the Lancs look fantastic but understandable diversions given Peters Dambuster movie project .... but he is a well know Aviation enthusiast too, so my guess is we will see more WW2 titles from WNW in the not to distant future. One thing we sometimes forget when comparing Tamiya to WNW is they are an Aircraft dedicated and focused company, so unlike Tamiya for our 1/32 new Aircraft fix, we don't need to wait such longer between 1/32 Aircraft releases with WNW. But if WNW do decide to follow on with more WW2 Aircraft. Hurricane MKI please.
  20. Its still money going elsewhere and where its needed ... could mention some world leaders wealth here but I wont But back to topic subject please.
  21. Beat me too it, Bill Gates despite his massive wealth is one for the most charitable people on the planet.
  22. We have WNW's reputation to call on and thats enough for me Art, we all know these kits are not going to be bad uns Price concern is valid, otherwise we are on a certainty here. End of day, its just a fun vote, if you are dead serious about it dont vote, its a fun thing Still cant believe its happening wake up and pinch myself, WNW Lancaster ... yea, its true
  23. I agree guys, I thought I'd mentioned the time factor too, but what I'm saying is and what James review seems to indicate as well is (and I'm not quoting him verbatim) ... the kit is almost on our doorstep now and just awaiting decals and boxing, there is late and there is very late revisions, perhaps its time to keep our expectations realistic ... I cant see much changing at this late stage, is not the kit supposed to be for sale at Telford? What is going to change now between then and now? I honestly don't think very much. Sometimes WYSIWYG, appreciate your scenario too Kev of the DO335 shots, but what was the time frame of you receiving those parts and kit release? weeks, months? How far away is Telford where this kit is going on sale? These are expensive once in a lifetime kit purchases for many of us, we need to choose correctly. I'm dimly aware of some certain factions friction between the two sites now, and we need to maintain some democracy, but its not that, I like James Hatch and his builds, really do ... just saying what I think about the two kits and all that has been seen so far ... and what I think and with all my guess and other folks guesses, those that are buying the HKM kit will not be disappointed and neither will those that choose for the WNW kits. One way or another there is bound to be some sort of modelling conflict as both kits come out, but hopefully and eventually jovial and we all admire what we can do with each others different skill sets and approaches. But for now, there will be a bit of friction I suppose as modellers choose what to do and what kit to buy and some moderation concern is needed, but please let us have our say between the two kits from two different manufacturers. We've never had it so good. Awesome times
  24. One last thought folks, and about releasing sprue shots pics so close to a kit release date? if they are not final release candidate sprue pics shots what's the point? Why would you send out for public consumption, sprues so close to kit release date that were less than perfect? What we need is what we are going to get sprue shots, otherwise all we are going to get are ... "these are not final sprue shots" arguments because they are not boxed and then maybe they will change on final release (HK Lanc release around the corner now) and more arguing amongst each other defending our choices and pointless bickering. You dont see Tamiya messing about this way, when they release sprue shots you know thats what you are gonna get, I trust Tamiya that way ... not this common practise of some company's sending out final sprues to testers and if feedback is not good, halt it all again, have not HKM done this a few times now? and sure time for correction ... The HKM Lanc is pretty final now I will be very surprised if the sprue shots from James (not having a go James) are not the final ones ... he has a good well deserved relationship with them.
