  1. Hey,if Revell reworked their kit, they would have another winner. To me, removing the rivets and scribing the panels would help tremendously. New clear parts would also be welcome. I thought I had heard a rumor last year that they would be updating moulds on some of their old kits- please don't turn this comment into a new topic.
  2. Does anyone have an idea when the kit will arrive with the US distributors? I know- "When they get here"!!! from those with a devious soul. Just trying to get an idea so that I may appropriately fund some business with my donation
  3. I am converting the Revell Mosquito to a Mk XXX. As yet I haven't seen any images of the radio/radar fitment or discovered just what was used other than the AI MkX system. I know some had the Monica and most were fitted with Gee. Any help would be welcome.
  4. In light of the upcoming demise of Pacific Coast Models, how about a Salute to Pacific Coast? Builds of any one of their kits. Surely we all have builds we have done or on the SOD or in the box waiting to be started.
  5. Well, we have asked Revell for a new P-51B, Bf-110G4, and Ju-88C-G. How 'bout some love for a new Beaufighter!!! I would really like to see Revell upgrade the Mk.I to a Mk.VI and/or Mk.X with all the interior parts redone and the horizontal tailplanes with dihedral. Tried multiple times over the years to modify a Mk.i, but always ended up on the SOD and never finished
  6. Thanks for the review. Looks like I will be placing an order this next week.
  7. Great idea on the gun blisters. A much easier approach that I wouldn't have thought of. I am currently working on this kit and will give this a whirl- sorry couldn't resist the pun. You are doing a very nice job on the kit.
  8. If you can find the Monogram Publications booklet on the 110, it is a good aid also.
  9. That would be great Kevin. Just email me with the details.
  10. I am the same one that started this post, and would like to clarify something. Jim,does this conversion work with the Revell kit or is it strictly aimed at Hasegawa and Tamiya? I have just pulled the Revell kit back out to work on it again. As Elgar stated the Grey Matter is definitely not a good match up in height. Hopefully we can get this figured out. Maybe the nose and the lower cowling pan can be jockeyed around to work.
  11. Recently completed a conversion of the Dragon/Cyberhobby 110D to a G, and entered at the recent IPMS USA nationals. I used the posterior portion of the Tasman vac canopy for this, and it worked out pretty well. I used Rutman detail parts-cockpit, vertical fins, spinners and props, wheels/tires, Barracuda oil coolers, Eduard PE sets, Peddinghaus decals, decals from the extras bin, Tamiya /Model Master and other Paints. I had to do extensive work on the nacelles to bring them up to G versions. Revell flame dampeners and radar masts , Master radar aerials. In other words, a great deal of work. I will try to get some pictures taken this weekend and post them to give an idea to those who are brave. Come on Eduard, upsize your 1/48th G- PLEEEEZE.
  12. Welll, don't I feel the fool!! After checking all my dimensions several times, I discovered that I had forgotten to take into account the length added by the pointed rudder. Therefore, indeed, the Grey Matters Mk XII conversion will create the correct total length as published in different sources. On the path now to do the conversion some justice.
  13. I have the Grey Matters conversion kit, and had tried to use it with the Hasegawa Mk V kit. I wasn't satisfied with the results I was getting- no fault of the conversion set. Primarily due going from a Vb wing to a XII wing. I have acquired the Revell MK IX to try to use the set with it instead, and noticed that either I am nuts or the set/nose would end up being short in length. Just an FYI for those that might be considering this conversion. I plan to do further work into finding out what might be necessary to get this correct.
  14. Keep plugging away on this. I've built it and was very impressed overall with it. There is a good book that discusses all the varied camo schemes that was used by the ANR- however, I can't get to it due to a recent move. I think D'Amico was one of the authors.
  15. I want to build a Mosquito Mk XXX. Plan to use the Revell kit with some available AM- especially the gun nose and engine nacelles from Gray Matters. Will need to obtain a FB VI canopy. Is it possible to order the clear sprue from Tamiya for the canopy? If not, is there a vacuform canopy available? I know there was one for the Revell kit many moons ago.
  16. How do the Hasegawa and Trumpeter kits compare to each other? Which seems most accurate?
  17. I am currently trying to do a conversion myself. I have a Trumpeter canopy that I am trying to work with and it is in need of some reshaping of the framework and repainting to better fit the outline per the Tamiya part. I don't think it will be able to be displayed closed- only open. Still trying to decide whether to sand off the extra frames from the Tamiya and polish. Anyone tried this avenue? I have used the paddle prop blades with slight modification from the Hasegawa P-47 in my parts box.
  18. Does anyone know What the differences are between the early AS and the Later AS RAF dark green, ocean grey, and medium sea grey? Is one set matte and other gloss? I don't recall seeing this discussed anywhere.
  19. Wah-Hoo! Attention to those that want one. Just saw that the Yak-3 is in at Sprue Brothers , and I have ordered one. Been waiting a long time for another important Russian fighter- Have the HPH La-7 already.
  20. Regarding the Ki-45, I used a good deal of information from the Maru Mechanic issue when I did my vac. Seemed to be very detailed in what it covered. I am sure that ZM will cover this aircraft well.
  21. Well, I did the vacuform ID Ki-45 some time ago- took me about 10 years of work. Therefore as usual, a new injection kit will follow, and I WILL have one . I am ecstatic!! and know it will not take that long to build this time.
  22. I notice that the the kit is sold out on the website. Have they announced when they will have more in stock???
  23. It has been very quiet from the big distributors over here on this kit. Any idea when we might be able to get them here. Love the news about the Typhoon- of course I'm in the middle doing up the Revell kit- and Whirlwind. Built Roy's 1/48th vac Whirlwind and what a great experience.
  24. I am building an F-8 -Revell. The scheme I want to do is < E with a large E on the nose, yellow cowl ring, fuselage band, and rudder. The only picture of this I have seen is in Squadron in Action. The main question is this- the picture seems to show a black/white E on the cowl and the small E behind the chevron appears to possibly not be black/white. I suspect green/white??? Any input on this would be appreciated.
  25. Ok I'll bite. Westland whirlwind Ki-45 !!!! Come on Zoukei-Mura- it's a natural FJ-4/4B Fury Yak-9
