Thanks Martin, re the tear drops yes i was also informed by another person, I had realised what I had done earlier, serves me right for not paying attention. So out scalpel it will be. We are away for 10 days so will return after the family break. Thanks all for all the positive comments, I do doubt my ability. I returned back to the hobby about two years ago after a break of 30 or so years. LSP and Britmodeller have inspired me tremendously. I am doing a 1/24 Zero for another forum however will post up on here once I start that build. Regards Chuck

Productive day off for the work shy teacher. Since these were taken shes been filled again rubbed back and re primed. Also now had a coat of silver where it matters along with more milliput.

Good evening sorry for the delay on the update, Well here it is. Been a busy week for a week off, miles to grind out on the mountain bike, decorating and a decent amount of modelling. Work in progress so far, cockpit done, tons of dry fitting, sanding, fitting again, cutting and more sanding. The same with the radio compartment. The engine is not being displayed as I intend to have this with the covers on and weathered. The wings are all together and I managed to blank off the wheel wells and not get super glue everywhere. Radio compartment getting there Viewed from above, now I need to do all the knobs and dials on the sets. Cockpit, this took some cutting, sanding, fettling, fitting and fitting again. I have to use strip and sheet around the cockpit walls once its all zipped up to fill the extra lip the tub has created and also behind the seat. Got some thin brass that I have cut to shape to pop in there. The wings have had Eduard grilles fitted inside the radiator baths, I have also blanked the wheel wells and added the ribbing. The cut outs in the wheel well liners helped here a lot to get the spacing right. Propeller blades have had their sink marks filled and then re shaped. to make them thinner, even after looking again at this picture they could do with another sand. I will not be displaying the engine, however it deserved a coat of black and some weathering just to keep my conscience happy There is more but I need to tidy up the bench and put the kettle on. Next step is finish the radio compartment and the rear wheel well and leg then zip up the main body and fit the wings and tail. Fill, sand re prime, re scribe bits and bobs then move on to paint. Thank you for the welcome, I have been on Britmodeller for a couple of years now since I came back into the hobby. However I have now decided to "Go large" in the stash. I am a real P-40 and Mossie nut so watch this space. The down side to coming back is that the father in law managed to squeeze a Spitfire Mk Ia out of me last year. Since then I have had a constant stream of builds for his oppos at the RAFA/Golf Clubs. (A herd of old ex RAF, Royal Navy and Army types at the Golf Club). For a short while I am saying no to them until October and actually build for fun The Messerschmitt it pure fun and practice techniques. The recent builds for the father in law and "The Chaps" have been as favours and they pay for the kits and materials. I will up date later today hopefully.

Thank you Iain I have just completed part of phase 1. Once the paint has dried I will post up. The reason for this build is to practice my lack of skill but bags of enthusiasm. I must admit your UHU last year was amazing, that camo was hoofin. Lovely job sir.

Good afternoon all I have been lurking on here for some time admiring everyone's work and now that I am feeling inspired and some what over awed after looking at the outstanding builds on this forum I have mustered up the courage to test my skill. Any input is gratefully received. Now that my students have broken up for summer it is time for the first build of down time from teaching, marking, assessing and Holistically caring for my teenage brood of monsters. Challenge one is; can a 35 year plus kit be brought up to date? There are techniques that I have wanted to attempt for ages, one is to master the art of brass and resin.The challenge is on. Update, sand fill scribe and rivet the mighty Matchbox Messerschmitt into an updated 21st Century build. So its Dremel, sanding sticks and filler at the ready. First of all the bits and bobs pictures. I will update regularly as I go on, I can imagine there will be some silent swearing and stuck together fingers, this build is a good excuse for me to try some new techniques and mediums rather than straight out of the box.
