  1. The mossie is a stunning kit. It is expensive though. But considering I started it in November and probably put about 100 hours into it it works out about £1.30 per hour. Wolf I didn't notice that seam until after painting I'm going to try and rectify it though.
  2. I sold this on eBay to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. It went for £62 in the end. Which has put me just over half way to my fundraising target. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Ben-Norley-2135979
  3. It's an awesome kit. The only thing I NEED to sort out is that silvering on the red markings on the wings.
  4. Never been much of a fan of Mosquito models. I think its something to do with the old 1/72nd Airfix kit. It always looked a little clunky when it was on it's wheels. So I tended to avoid it. Then when Tamiya and HK models brought out their 32nd scale kits I thought nah don't want one. Don't like the plane what's the point building a kit of a plane I don't like. Then the more I saw of them being built and the detail on them I thought about it. I saw a few builds that made it look stunning despite being on the undercarriage. Then after watching a few videos on You tube and comparing the HK bomber and the Tamiya fighter I took the plunge. Helped largely by a good discount on the kit too This was a first on a couple of techniques. The first time I used the Montex Masks, the first time with Fabric belts (Yes I know my 24th Hurricane had both of these but I started the Mossie back in November) and the first time i've used artists charcoal and burnt umber to weather the exhausts. The belts were a PITA. But look good. The Montex masks I hated but not as much as Tamiya's decals. Why do they shrivel up so much at the sight of Micro-sol?? Grrr I lost a few that way. Especially round the exhausts on the faired side. But anyway on with the pictures. As best as I can take.
  5. I'm still on a break from the Mosquito. Been working on this. I bought it off a Facebook group. Had already been started but only trimmed to fit the seamless intakes and some undercoat on the resin cockpit. The cockpit is a mixture of kit parts, Aires and Avionix cockpits. The seamless intakes looked great until late I had to fit the lower wing. There's a big lump which I had to cut. Now they have holes in. So covers are needed. It's my first (strangely) pre-shading. I think I got it right. I did drop it while masking and broke a little bit off the tail - hence the unpainted part with filler round it. But here's where I am now.
  6. Tamiya use the masking tape for their belts on the F-16. Could that have worked?
  7. Looks stunning. I have two vipers in the stash (Academy and Tamiya both cj's). One Sufa built too.
  8. I'll follow this with interest. I've got the Navy one at home which I've just started. I've got some Seamless intakes and 2 and a half resin cockpits though
  9. Lovely work there David. It's such a shame about the decals. But looks like you made a good attempt at rescuing it.
  10. Could you explain the paint pouring technique? I've got two viper's in the stash (Tamiya and Academy) to build.
  11. I'm beginning to regret ordering the Aires pit for my F-15C now.
  12. I'd seen those in the Pocketbond catalogue. I'm going to wait for the UB. I've just finished the M. So a two seater will be just right. 😊
  13. Thanks Tony. Now I'm going to have to buy another MiG-29 too lol.
  14. Looks great Iain. Was the cockpit Aires? I've got one of these on the way to the stash with some resin and PE parts.
  15. I have. It's at the adding fiddly little bits stage.
  16. Thanks Harv and Kev. It's not been a bad build. It's a quick one to distract me from the Tamiya Mossie.
  17. Was a bit of a fight to get the wings on in a vaguely correct manner. But it's been enjoyable. Used Eduard belts and Montex masks.
  18. For this? Is it the primer coats?
  19. Looks a great build in the making. I have one in the stash with an Aires cockpit.
  20. I don't normally. But for my F/A-18c that i've just started I will. I wanted to try pre-shading with blacks, browns, greys and whites before I paint the overall grey to see if that helps with the different panel colours. Rather than post shading.
  21. Thanks Harv and Kev. I enjoyed it. Made me want to build a couple more Russian birds.
