  1. Time for a proper update

ok here's where i am, and a warning for anyone building this kit in any scheme, the decal placment numbers are wrong, not just in the checkers but also the walkways and stencils, so check and double check, dont do what i did and trust in Airfix

as you may have read, due to the error in numbering i got them wrong and then they disintegrated when i tried to swap them, Sparzanza has kindly agreed to send replacements - THANK YOU

ok TC kindly researched this aircraft for me and it appears that, the checkers were a post war addition to the plane, so until some replacement arrives it a war machine, when replacments arrive they will be retro fitted

i found that using DACO strong decal setting liquid allowed the detail to show through well

work has also begun on the base, the cork board has been coated in PVA glue and sprinkled with various shades of 'grass' once this is fully dry (you can still see some white pva in places, i will add some 'mud' where the wheels have dug in

  2. well both gun bays are done and ready next up is the fuel tanks, now im not going to paint them in aluminium as per the instructions as i believe they would be a red primer colour the same as hurricanes, anyway if im wrong you wont see them anyway

  3. here you go, this mornings work

right work has begun on the gun bays, now my research surggests that these were lined with Leather to reduce vibrations, Airfix would have you paint them brown, which makes me think they agree. anyway to add a bit of texture is lined these with kitchen roll, painted leather, i have a lot more to do including weathering the leather and gun rack

  4. Well progress has been good but in-reality it doesnt look like ive done much, however ive added 40+ parts, that you will never ever see

i do have concerns about the width of the engine, some of the parts are very tight and dont fit well making me think the engine is too wide, however i wont be able to tell properly until its all built and the sides of the body are added

ok things get complex and tricky, this pipe (on both sides) needed to be slitted through a hole then twisted to fit on the frame, this 1 pipe alone took me 2hrs this morning to do
