  1. Will not have this done my Model Classic. Will work on this and other builds between the Ju88G1 Mistel 2 build. I hope to have Ju88 finished by Model Classic. Tentative yes to Richmond. Knee rehab going quite well. If I do go it will be an early depart. I will connect with you on that.
  2. Cheers Steve. Yes, I saw those posts. A lovely finish. Faking it? Not faking anything. It's FICE. *I assure you there will be many more "inaccuracies" on this build. *See FICE
  3. PROPELLER ADJUSTMENT Not happy with the spindly Planet Model supplied prop blades. I pulled some Hasegawa FW190 prop blades from my scrap box. These are beefier and look closer to images appearing in the Smith/Creek's FW190 Vol. 1, pp 253-259. A coat of RLM 70 followed by a shot of silver on the blade collar. Using my PropMaster I aligned and glued the blades on the hub. Prop boss dry fitted. Another test fit with the engine cowling.
  4. BACK FROM THE SHELF O' DOOM I received my FW190D9 "Tall Tail" from Hasegawa. I cannot say enough positive comments about HAG customer service. I have placed orders for parts (sprues) on multiple occasions and they have easily filled my order. Cut at the panel line. After assembly of the tail and tail wheel the new "Tall Tail" was grafted to the fuselage using stryene strips for locators and 5 minute epoxy. The white card is a shim. Fill/sand/scribe required later. Going to let this cure for a few days before I touch it.
  5. RUDDDER FIT While I was in the mood for grinding resin I worked on the Ju88G1 rudder. I carefully measured where the kit rudder plug would meet on the G1 rudder. Swapping out a smaller grinding tool I hollowed out the rudder to accept the kit rudder plug. The kit rudder plug was trimmed down to accept the G1 rudder. Test fit. We're good. The rudder need to slide forward about 1mm. Some light filling might be needed, TBD.
  6. ENGINE WORK First step in preparing the BWM801's engine nacelle/engine requires hollowing out the engine exhaust flange to fit at nacelle rear mount. Using my Dremel tool I got to work. As you can see much work is required to thin the inside to fit on the leading edge of the nacelle rear mount. Care must be taken to preserve a uniform thickness of the exhaust flanges. The difficult part is keeping a steady hand during the grind off process. The finished work is placed on a stand for photo. I held the engine in my left hand and worked the Dremel tool with my right hand. Finished with no disaster. Will gently hand sand to achieve desired thickness of the exhaust flanges. Tic marks are for placement of a styrene disc for glue surface on the nacelle rear mount.
  7. Thanks Matt. Research has stated Azure Blue, USN Intermediate Blue (see Tamiya call out AS19) and PRU Blue. I am taking the plunge with Mr. Paint on this build.
  8. I am stumped on what color to use for my Mossie PR Mk.IV. PRU Blue? Azure Blue? Thanks - Rick
  9. Nearly two years since my last post on this build. Yikes! Priority builds, bench rebuild and life kept me away from this project. The Fw190 Mistel 2 is done so finally it's on the the Ju88 Mistel 2. The Fw190 was finished April 2015. Awaits the Ju88. Some cutting and test fitting on the Ju88. The AIMS components fit well. Noting, plenty of putty work will be required. Not the scary kind of putty work. Will be posting many WIP images soon.
  10. Jug Bait - love it! watching this build, looks great so far.
  11. Ok, I'm late to this party. However, lovely work. I always like the Post-War yellow wing schemes.
  12. Very nice NM finish. When Tamiya launches the 1:32 Jug it will be...well, a great day.
  13. Oops, my bad. Edits executed. Sorry Scott, Your Raid Hot Momma was a beauty.
  14. Mike - Congrats on your 2nd place win. FWIW - you inspire and coach many. Some beautiful builds on the table last night. Great presentation on Navy Camouflage (Pre WWII to Aug 45) by Dana Bell as well done. Navy color camo standards were at best merely a guide of recommendations. Great facts and figures on this topic.
  15. Beautiful finish. I saw it in person. Took 2nd place honors in a very talent heavy field at our IPMS club meeting last night. Atta boy Mike!
  16. Ugh! Sorry to hear. I recommend you contact HpH and ask for replacement parts. My Planet FW190C conversion had a nasty fuselage warp and I am nervous when I resume my MDC tiffy. For this reason is why resin kits scare the hell out of me.
  17. An epic finish Brian. The weathering is just right...ridden hard and put away wet. Not overdone as we see on many IJNAF and IJAAF. The beach trolley is nothing short of epic. Bravo on your brass rebuild. So wish I'd seen this before I started my Rufe conversion.
  18. Thank you Boris. I appreciate the kudos Tim, thank you.
