  1. Ooh, that canopy looks awful. Good luck with filling the gaps! It's coming on really well.
  2. Hi Klaus Thanks for the tip about the Maskol. Tha Alclad was sprayed directly onto the plastic, I'm not going for the proper NMF its just for the chipping so it should be fine. If it cracks under the Gunze Acrylic I'll be gutted but it worked on the Frank.
  3. Fantastic detailing mate, it's going to look stunning when painted up.
  4. To be honest it's on the back burner a bit while I crack on with the Corsair. As soon as I have some more I'll put up some pictures.
  5. Wow, such determination, I would have given up long ago.
  6. Bloody camera shake   Soz.
  7. The canopy has had the 1A cross bracing masked and painted in black. That's all for now, next up will be the white undersides and the national insignia. I am using Eduard masks for this.
  8. Zoomed in. This is the same technique I used on my Ki-84 if you remember that one from last year.
  9. Maskol has been dabbed on with a small piece of torn sponge. When the painting is finished it will be rubbed off to reveal the metal underneath.
  10. my tripod is only 6 inches high hence the blurry pic!
  11. Cheers everyone. Bob, I was tempted to do an RN aircraft but I am doing a VF-17 machine. It's going to be weathered to destruction! I have finished the airframe and the painting has began at last. The model has been undercoated with Alclad Aluminium and preshaded with Gunze black.
  12. Just awesome, nothing much else I can say!
  13. Very nice indeed mate. I'm sure we'll see the finishing touches soon, these kits fall together.
  14. That looks really neat. What an ingenious technique.
  15. The cockpit is finished. I have added the shoulder harness and the head rest as well as the gunsight. Whats with the large clear rectangular bit which the Tamiya 1:48 has but not this 1:32 job, is it armour and does anyone have a photo? I have masked the windcreen and will spray this black and add it next, once that is faired in I can start the painting....Woo Hoo!
  16. The cowl is done and attached. You can see where the added detail is here. I didn't want to go too detailed as this will delay the start of the painting! To support the cowling at the bottom I added a support from plastic card, there is a cut out in the resin bit which acts as a housing for it and this supports the lower cowl. Trumpeter only have an upper attachment which is odd. Why does it always look in focus on the camera screen?
  17. Nice Tonka mate............nutter!
  18. Nice work mate, I love the old Huey.
  19. Thanks for the kind words. No probs, I removed each flap one at a time and numbered both it and the mounting ring. I drew round the plastic flap onto thin aluminium which I cut out of a coke can. This was then cut out with scissors making sure I corrected the profile (a bit of seaman's eye here). Once all the cowl flaps were made they were glued one at a time using super glue, some needed a bit of trimming here and there but it didn't take that long. Don't forget to number the new ones as you go along, that way you won't get lost.
  20. NEVER MIND ALL THAT, WHAT ABOUT MY BLOODY 109F OR FW 190A-3/4!!!!!!
  21. I have added a few strips if plastic card to the cowling, I'm not sure if it's accurte, I just added them where the panel lines are. (Don't tell that lot over at missing-lynx ) I will be adding the webs and the wire that links them tonight. Then once I have done the canopy I can start painting at last. This building lark kind of drags for me, I love the painting and weathering bit.
  22. Phew, at last I am recovered from Brussels. thank goodness Johnny our NZ mate sees the funny side of our shinnanigans! Back to the modelling. The coel flaps were made from a can of Diet Caffiene free coke, ugh! I am still playing with the lighting tent so the photos aren't as good as I'd hoped.
  23. Made a note in my diary.....simply said bugger! 48th and 72nd for the comp it is then!
  24. Radu Simply stunning. I have one question, how do you glue the bits together without any evidence of any glue. When I try this sort of thing you can see the remains of the liquid glue all over the place. Also, are you planning to be at telford this year? If so, please don't enter the competition to give us mere mortals a chance!
  25. Chris That has turned out really well mate, I love the weathering around the spats and the fuselage.
