  1. Fantastic news! Now to try and wait patiently……….. Cheers, Wolf
  2. Welcome here Will! Having built the Mk IXc kit, if I may offer an observation, don’t worry too much about the area behind the seat. It’s surprising, even though there’s a small clear canopy section above it, there isn’t a lot that can be seen back there once the fuselage is closed up. If you’re not convinced, dry fit together as much as you can, you’ll see what I mean. It’s a fantastic kit and you’re going to love building it. I look forward to seeing your progress. Cheers, Wolf
  3. Hhmmmmm, interesting, So the MG alignment issue may not have been entirely my own doing. Once I rebuilt the rear MG mount I found I had just enough clearance for the cabane struts to fuselage bracing wires to clear the MG tips as well. It appears as though the MG alignment issue may be the only thing to really watch out for with this kit. Cheers, Wolf
  4. Looks great so far Dave, I’m curious though regarding the interior colours of the Hellcat. I was under the impression that everything behind the rear cockpit bulkhead including the area behind the small rear windows was painted white as an anti-corrosion measure. There’s a frequently seen video of an F6F-3 crashing on a carrier deck, then splitting apart directly behind the cockpit, showing everything in white. Is this indicated at all in the Detail and Scale book? I’m not sure (if) this (was) continued with the GSB colour scheme. Cheers, Wolf
  5. To everyone that’s posted and “liked”……. I’m humbled by all your responses to my WIP and RFI threads. Sincerely, thank-you all so very much! Cheers, Wolf
  6. Thank-you so very much Maru! You are always so generous with your compliments and they’re greatly appreciated. I’m very much looking forward to seeing Charlie Chaplin again sometime. You keep well and SAFE too! Cheers, Wolf
  7. Thanks Pete! That’s a much appreciated compliment. One day I hope to be able to master weathering and finishing like you. Cheers, Wolf
  8. Thank-you very much Bob! Honestly, I couldn’t have managed the control line and bracing wires as cleanly as I did without your brass tubing! You’ll be hearing from me soon as I’m going to need more. Cheers, Wolf
  9. Thank-you Bernd! The light streaking is Aviattic’s faded varnished streaked linen decal. It may not be completely accurate but I’m quite happy with the way it looks. Thank-you Brian, Considering you blazed the trail with your build of this kit I’m glad you liked the way mine turned out. Did you have any similar issues with fitting the MGs on your build? I found it odd that I had issues there. Just curious. Thank-you Michael, That’s much appreciated! Cheers, Wolf
  10. Wow Vaughn, That is freakin’ awesome! Brilliant work all the way ‘round…. Cheers, Wolf
  11. Looks great so far. Is there a way of putting something in between the fuselage and intake trunking to push the outer fuselage panel out and close the gap between it and the wing? Just thinking out loud. Cheers, Wolf
  12. Fantastic build Woody, The work you’ve done and the rivet detail you added definitely sets your model apart and adds a wonderful level of detail rarely seen on builds of the Dauntless. I personally (I sincerely hope you don’t take this as a criticism of your work) would have toned down the starkness of the panel line weathering on the fuselage and inner sections of the wings but that’s just my preference. Nonetheless your Dauntless build is absolutely brilliant Woody! Cheers, Wolf
  13. Beautifully done Chuzam, Very well done indeed and the weathering looks extremely realistic. I can’t believe I missed this one considering the original post was back in June. Cheers, Wolf
  14. Thank-you Sir! I very much appreciate your compliment. Cheers, Wolf
  15. Brilliantly done Duke! The North African climate was not friendly to these machines and they were worked very hard. Your weathering shows this perfectly. Awesome build Sir! Cheers, Wolf
  16. What a freakin’ amazing build! Cheers, Wolf
  17. Thanks a lot Chuck, I did have a couple of challenges with the build especially with the aileron control cable installation but that was more self induced than anything else. As far as contest winning, I’m not sure about that, there’s a couple of things I would have to attend to. For now though this one is done! Cheers, Wolf
  18. Thanks Kagemusha, As I mentioned in my reply to Gary I most likely used the wrong colour decals for my build but I bought the first ones released to fit the Meng kit. The darker ones I believe have a blue background, as opposed to bleached linen like mine, but I’m quite satisfied with the way mine turned out. Cheers, Wolf
  19. Thank-you Kevin, Having the blue wrap up on the fuselage sides was the way the Aviattic decals are designed so I have to give them credit for that. I was also going by photos of this plane on the WnWs website. I knew about the dual aileron control cable set up as it’s exactly the same on the Fokker D VII. Many thanks Rich, I’ve ordered Richard’s decals a few times and the bottom wing on the Pfalz is covered with them. I hadn’t heard of the Aviattic fabric effect decals yet when I built the Fokker D VII. The fuel cart in the photos is also from Aviattic. Cheers, Wolf
  20. Thank-you very much Andy, I couldn’t resist pulling out the Pfalz and the D VII and photographing them together with the Dr. 1. It was then that it came as quite a surprise as to how much smaller the Dr. 1 is to the other two. Especially in length! Thanks Mike, much appreciated! Thank-you Jeff, Yes, a real flying Circus eh?……and definitely a colourful bunch. I wish I’d had some pilot figures and all the props spinning. That would have looked cool. Cheers, Wolf
  21. Thank-you Radu, I very much appreciate the compliment Sir! I was very pleased to have found a set of your RB Productions seatbelts for this build and I have since found enough sets to complete all my German WnWs kits. Cheers, Wolf
  22. Thanks Damian, Much appreciated. It is actually quite nice to have something finished for a change. Thank-you Matt, Yeah, it came out well eh? There are a couple of spots that need a little bit of attention but overall I’m pleased with the model. I’m looking forward to seeing your Camel finished so it has something to chase, LOL! It’s quite remarkable how small the Dr.1 is compared to the Pfalz D IIIa and especially the Fokker D VII. It would be interesting to hear what von Richthofen thought about the D VII as I believe he had a chance to fly it before being killed in April. Thanks Mike, Always a pleasure hearing from you! Cheers, Wolf
  23. Thank-you Gary, I used Aviattic’s faded varnished streaked decals. Aviattic, shortly thereafter, released a dedicated decal sheet for this aircraft which appears to be darker overall. I’m guessing the later released ones are more correct but I like the way it turned out with the lighter colours better myself. Cheers, Wolf
  24. Thanks Martin, See, I can actually finish something, not often enough but every one in a while…….and it feels good too! Cheers, Wolf
  25. After a very long time I’ve finally managed to build something from start to finish. I was extremely excited when I heard that Meng was releasing this kit as I was sure the WnWs DR.1 was not to be. It was definitely on my “must have” list” when it was released and it was, IMHO, worth the wait! I hope you enjoy the pics. Cheers, Wolf With some WnWs stablemates! Thanks for lookin’.
