  1. Looking really great Tomek! Im shocked at how much wood is involved in these........but I guess I really shouldn't be, as there had to be some way to support the paper and let the model retain its shape. Good on ya! Cheers, Brian
  2. Thanks for the kind words Thor! Yeah it is a lovely kit with only 1 exception...........the canopy and rear fuse plugs that they didn't manage to put on any real panel lines. Spent a lot of this past weekend sanding and filling chin intake and rear fuse plug seams. Pics in just a bit............ Cheers, Brian
  3. Yep, Phil is doing the TR Mk.33 Sea Mossie with (and I dont blame him for space reasons) folding wings Looks totally killer BTW Phil you brave man!
  4. Yes, yes! Lovely attention to detail man.....very cool. Cheers, Brian
  5. Just looked over this thread Keith, nicely done. I have always wondered about this kit and how the detail was. I also have their new tool Claude as well. Brian
  6. Jerry's sub-title sorta takes care of that....... " "best website/store for model car stuff?"
  7. Thanks for the kind words Ron and Max! As you know, it helps to know your at least not going crazy wondering if what you have done is crap or not. I did get the fuse all sealed up along with the exhaust panels and the two forward intake lips, the lower one for the cooling and the upper cowling lip. I got these on and sanded flush, but am now sanding on the underside chin area right behind the spinner on the bottom right in front of the chin intake. Didnt quite match up with the contours of the spinner, but I have fixed that and am on my way to getting the fuse where it needs to be. More pics soon, and cheers. Brian
  8. Thanks Doug. Well, do this if you can, put me down for an He 51 on floats for sure, and if it works out that you get the another 3 orders for the geared version, just put me down for the geared version in stead. To tell you the truth I have a severe weakness for float planes, so I was originally going to get the float version anyway, the only thing that switched me to the geared version was the fact that the schemes for the float plane version are literally limed to 1, just plain gray with a red band on the vert stab. Seemed a might drab to me, but I do LOVE the version on floats, so if you dont get the extra 3 orders, just put me down for the He 51 on floats. Cheers, Brian
  9. Thanks Fred! Well that last project was a labor of love and was well worth the outcome. However I seem to be compensating the opposite direction with this one on the "clean and polished" scale however. Cheers, Brian
  10. Man.............that looks AWESOME Chris! Especially comparted to the Trumpy cowling which looks very misshapen indeed comparatively. Ironically after a trade, this will go nicely with my new acquisition (on the right): Cheers, and cant wait to get a copy! Brian
  11. Uhhhhhg. Bummer. Is that just for the geared version or do they have any of the He-51s on floats? Brian
  12. Awesome Ian............thanks for producing these types of sets. I hesitate to say it, but unless I am putting on some complex airbrushed picture or nose art, with you in business, I may never use decals again. So NO going out of business! Cheers, Brian
  13. Thanks for the kind words Bill! Quite a complement considering some of your builds.........especially all the scratch work on your F-86. LSP I think is one of those unique places that almost EVERYONE can lean something from someone else, and yet at the same time, you can end up showing someone else some new tricks too. Its nice.............not to mention the fact that you have all of that AND none of the not-so-nice stuff that can occasionally come along with other sites. Bit of small progress.......... There ALWAYS has to be some screw up on my part during builds. I hope this is my only one. This one occurred while trying to get the fuse halves together. NOT usually a problem for me.........and in this case, almost especially easy as the bottom of the fuse is WAY open, so the seam can be glued from the inside for strength, then filled from the outside if needed. I accidentally got in more of a hurry than I should have and ran some thin CA down one side of the vertical fin, and then stupidly used de-bonder on it. Not knowing the de-bonder does mess up the plastic a bit; crazed it or melted it slightly. Either wa, not a huge deal as I was going to have to re-scribe some panels any way. Lesson learned, from now on Ill stick to fingernail polish remover, as unlike de-bonder, it wipes out the CA without changing the kit plastic. Got the fuse together, cockpit installed, and chin intake works situated The new model stand from HLJ is quite versatile I must say.......I took off the 2 outer pylons for holding the wings up and now just have the fuse pylons. Chin intake tubes look cool in there I think, but have not yet put on the front lip. The intake parts are not 110% aligned, as the fuse alignment called for me to not bond it to the apposing fuse side, but I discovered after dry fitting the front lip, once its attached, you cant notice anything off. Well back to the grindstone! Cheers for lookin in on me, Brian
  14. Yes agreed, something weird with the way the site is coded, and links up for sure. The Union Jack is admittedly placed very oddly on the page, being right at the top of teh page with absolutely no border or space at the top. Very hard to even locate. But as you said Charles, either way kind of a funky set up on their side. But at least site can be read in English without Google hassles. Cheers, Brian
  15. Yes, it does. Link and drop downs worked great with no issues. Am I missing something with the Google translate issues, as would it not be easier to just go to the main link of http://www.kits-discount.com/new_kits/ and hit the little Union Jack next to the French flag in the middle top of the page, in order to get the English version, or is there more to this that I'm missing? Brian
  16. Hmmm that is odd. I jus get a standard Google looking page with a repeat of the French to English translate boxes, repeating over and over and over. Cant even see the bottom of the page (or the last French/English translation box either). I dont really ever get to the Kits discount website, just Google translate, over and over and over. Radio buttons dont really seem to function either. Is that link supposed to go to the "translated" version of the Kits discount website? Brian
  17. vERY COOL! I too am getting a set from Clyde for my upcoming B-25 build. Looks to be awesome stuff! Funny you should mention that Tomek, as Clyde actually DOES have that. Its not quite up to the R & D stage some of the rest of the technologies are at, but its pretty freaking cool. Again, this one is a prototype, so im sure more development is in the works. Dynamic Scale Modeling start up smoke Clyde has also developed a SUPER cool jet exhaust as well: SU-27 Flanker exhaust Good on ya Max, looking great! Cheers, Brian
  18. More progress last night and soon to be this morning.. Got the front chin intake squared away. Got the individual pieces glued together, then added the PE grills, and weathered the whole thing. Back side of the intake, with completed PE grills and a light(ish) sand wash After looking over the P-40 documentation I have, the front pics on a lot of them show thse two small tubes in the chin intake, that stick out in the airflow, and I really thought then looked cool for whatever reason. Not 100% sure what they are for, but Has provided two small indentations in the upper intake, I just had to drill the holes out and then cut off two pieces of stainless steel tubing the correct length, then ground them off @ a 45 deg angle. Mine are probably a bit further into the airflow than the 1:1 bird but hey, artists interpretation I say. Besides, I thought they looked cool in there, kinda like fangs. Gave the P-40 some bite! After I got the cockpit situated and the Intake done, I went to work buttoning up the fuse.........................more pics in a bit..........then sleepy! Then its back up-and-atom! Cheers, Brian

  20. Thanks Chris..............glad you caught that or I just might have been happily meandering about in the pit finally assembled, only to have it complete with a bass-akwards gun sight. I they say, more pairs of eyes are better! Thanks a heap Keith, and yeah, Im enjoying this one, as the fit so far seems really great. Im glad to see that your still up and about on the net. Nice maybe to take your mind off of all the terrible things going/have gone on. Thanks a heap guys for the kind words. As always makes all the difference sometimes. Cheers, Brian
  21. Said it be fore mate, that light is sweeeet! The pit sidewall additions and the buttons look great. Brian
  22. Thanks Mark! Kind words and heads up on that 109 E-bay auction mucho appreciated...........just need it to arrive from PA now. Thanks again and cheers, Brian
  23. Thanks Derek Always nice to hear those nice things from someone in the "biz". I just used the standard Eduard Acetate sheet for the gun-sight, sprayed on a VERY diluted coat (like 5 to 1 ratio or thinner) of Tamiya clear green on the underside of the sheet only, then took the top and dipped it in a thin layer of Future to get some glass-like reflection in it. I normally use a very similar technique for filling. I never use the kicker when using CA for filler, usually mixing it with "micro balloons". This time however, Im going to try my older technique of melted sprue but thanks to Ross's melted sprue in turps Idea, Im going to mix the sprue with turpentine, instead of liquid glue or lacquer, which does work but you usually end up with filled panel lines and a stringy mess. Brian
  24. Thanks Thor. Yeah, I figured it was about time to add a P-40 to the collection, as I did not have one up to this point. I cant WAIT to get to the "fun" stage of this build.......AKA foiling! It will be a just a bit, but other than the trial and tribs that Sean mentioned this build is going fairly smoothly. Next I just need to mask the outside of the fuse, and then spray the rear cockpit interior green that is visible in the back. As Sean said, looks like fun trying to blend not only the rear tail fuse plug, but those fuse canopy lines. Fun fun! Thanks for lookin. Brian
  25. Me thinks this is an EXCELLENT time to put my Revell Mirage III (exact same kit as E-Bay auction) along with a set of beautiful G-Factor gear for it as well, up for sale. Any takers? Brian
