Williams Bros 1/32 Caudron C.460

Recommended Posts

I have finished this Williams Bros 1/32 Caudron C.460 racer that won the 1936 Thompson Trophy and the Greve Trophy race.  Flown by Michel Detroyat.

The build was a simple one with few parts.  The aged decals did present a challenge, but I managed to save them with Microscale Liquid Decal Film.  I added some internal structure visible in the wheel wells and cockpit.  The pilot figure is from Immense Miniatures.  I replaced the kit landing gear with wheels from the parts box and scratched the struts.  The plate oil coolers are bare metal foil, and are not drilled out, as so many modelers mistakenly do.  The oil cooler plates have dimples in them, not holes.  The dimples create a turbulent boundary layer in the air that flows over them, facilitating heat transfer.

This is the second in my collection of Williams Bros kits.
