Splatman812
Not having good luck with these PE and film combos. Seems very prone to scratching (especially bezels) and revealing the brass underneath. Primer (tamiya) doesn't seem to help much.
quang
Give the brass a coat of Gunze Metal Primer or clear nail varnish and off you go. HTH Quang coogrfan

quang
I’m using this. Apply a thin coat with a soft brush. Let dry overnight. Paint as usual. HTH Quang coogrfan and Splatman812

HTH Quang I've never found that stuff to work all that well, to be honest. I'm using it again on the white metal landing gear of the Welsh 757, but I'm not expecting the results to be any better than I've had previously. Mind you, most of my previous poor experiences with it have involved slick PE, rather than rough white metal, so you never know. I'm really only using it because I still have half a bottle of it! thierry laurent
Here's what I do: put such parts in a burnishing solution before painting. That way any scratch would just show an iron color!
Splatman812
Do you primer after burnishing?

No as the part is generally too small for that and this would add thickness to the paint coat. I prefer relying on a paint that does not flake easily like some acrylics do (e.g. Vallejo).
