Uncarina
I just ordered the Kitty Hawk AH-6/MH-6 kit. Do you have any recommendations for references? I'm not seeing much in the way of color call-outs (cockpit, etc) from the online instructions here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10490885/10/1 Thanks! BloorwestSiR
Tom, I checked the Black Ops conversion set instructions and couldn't find any colour suggestions there. There aren't any in the Werner's Wings decal sheet either From the colour photos in the Black Ops instructions of the actual helo, I'd say it's black/very dark grey though.. Hope that helps. John1
Any color works as long as it's black. That being said, the exterior weathers quickly. Plenty of pics online to provide references.

Carl Carl, thanks! I appreciate it. I'm specifically interested in interior colors. Though this isn't an authoritative reference, it's a great rendering: https://www.turbosquid.com/HDView/Index.cfm/ID/750289/r/2/i/1 Cheers, Tom

John1
John, Black inside and out? Hanks, Tom Yes but note that the interior is a different shade. I used testors interior black which is a “blacker†shade if that makes any sense. For the outside, add a few drops of white to a flat black and then weather with different tones. Again, I'd google some images. Note the link above is a fictional scheme. Uncarina
Uncarina
John, Great thanks. I'm seeing a lot of images via Google, but mostly of the "M" version, and lots of missing photobucket pics overall. I did find one of the J instrument panel however: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/189978-ah-6c-mh-6-photos-from-ah6c-sip-pics-are-back/&do=findComment&comment=2709344 Cheers, Tom Vandy 1 VX 4

Good luck with the exterior paintwork, Nightstalker Black, is a pretty weird color. Depending on the light, it's either flat black or a mottled dark-ish Gunship Grey. It also weathers horribly so you have plenty of room to use some artistic license and breakup an otherwise bland paint job. Uncarina
Thanks! I hadn't thought of Prime Portal. The link is for an "E", but I should be able to get some details relevant to Kitty Hawks "J". Cheers, Tom Vandy 1 VX 4
Vandy 1 VX 4
Tom can you PM me on your thoughts of the Mh-6J from Kitty Hawk? Or post it here Cheers Danny Uncarina
Uncarina
Danny, I was hoping to share my impressions, though I'm no expert. So far I've read it's a great kit, with Floyd Werners input, but has some details of the "M" to look out for, such as the FLIR. Again, this is hearsay. I will keep you posted! Uncarina
I now have the kit. It is carefully packaged. For example, the clear parts are in a separate box. One thing to look out for: one of the marking options is for 23635, which from photos (http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/189978-ah-6c-mh-6-photos-from-ah6c-sip-pics-are-back/&do=findComment&comment=2650616) is an MH-6, but the instructions label it as an AH-6. In fact, only one MH-6 option is offered, 25371. I am not knocking the kit, it is really nice looking, just be sure to do your research first. For example, this is one of the kit options, correctly identified as an AH-6: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/189978-ah-6c-mh-6-photos-from-ah6c-sip-pics-are-back/&do=findComment&comment=2638519, but was a "G" model, not a J": http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/189978-ah-6c-mh-6-photos-from-ah6c-sip-pics-are-back/&do=findComment&comment=2639830 Cheers, Tom Edited November 14, 2017 by Uncarina Vandy 1 VX 4
Uncarina
Also, the instrument panel has two monitors (parts C20 and C21) which appear to be used only with the "M" version. Again, I'm no expert, and so far I'm just basing this on photos. I wish there was a book that documented differences among the many versions, but I'm guessing the Black Ops mission has something to do with the paucity of info. I should stick with something easy, like determining the differences between RLM 82 and 83! Cheers, Tom
Vandy 1 VX 4
There is a book called night stalkers 160th Special Operations Aviation regiment airborne ISBN 0 7603 21411 8 by Zenith press +1-800-766-2388 www.zenithbooks.com It's mostly on Blackhawks but also has the MH-6 Uncarina
