Just remember this, the 219 shoots down a b-17, 10 people are gone, we drop our bomb load on your base, your air wing is gone.

B-17g   = 1

he-219 = 0

422nd Bomb Squadron who flew night raids with Bomber Command? The USAAF outfit were under British control and used British bombing methods. They flew 35 sorties with losses of two B-17s.

The Montlucon raid took place on the night of 15/16 September 1943

369 aircraft took part of 3, 4, 6 and 8 Groups - 209 Halifaxes, 120 Stirlings, 40 Lancasters, and 5 American B-17s also took part. 2 Halifaxes and 1 Stirling lost.

OK fellas, let's bring this back on topic. I'm finding all this talk of death and destruction - especially as a pi$$ing contest - a little distasteful. Yes, I know we build models of war machines, but we need to treat their lethality with sobriety and respect, not as a pretext for cheap points-scoring.

Kevin, In responce to your post I agree on some of your points. I built Trumpeters Me262 B1a/U1 Which I did reseach on as I do with all my planes. It was flown by Kurt Welter Commander KDO Welter

10.NJG11. He had nine kills in this aircraft. There was only Eleven of these delivered to his command. Being an experimental aircraft and at night in a jet fighter that was a handfull to fly even in daylight. I have great respect for the man both as a pilot and a warrior. I take my modeling very serious, That is part of the fun for me! This plane earned me a Gold in our last IPMS PennCon Yearly contest.

well its been a long and hard weekend here, but I managed to get most of the old bird into paint. Its still raw and a little to shiny, the clear coat will knock that down to a more realistic finish. Also will probably do a dirt wash before the clear, to highlight some of the detail on the surface. And before anyone asks, I am doing this aircraft as a restored aircraft, so it will be very clean, not very dirty.

next was a few panels sprayed with floquil platinum mist, and a yellow tail.

And finally the yellow wingtips, with the flaps and ailerons painted in floquil gunmetal.

I also painted inside the wheel bays, and the nose turrent gunmetal also, just for that extra contrast.

The panel contasts look good. I think once you spray your clear coats it will tone things up nicely. I think you hit it on the head with your choice of group markings. It looks real close to that picture in my living room.  It's come a long way since last I saw of it. Looking GGGGGGGGGGGood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just created the plywood texture using the programs I have, and then print it out on the testors decal paper. For this one I use the white backing.
