I am planning to do a Ju 88 book ( actually working slowely on it ) regarding the Ju 88 A1,A5 and A4 as i have learned quite a lot regarding these three types ( i think i will stick to them as those are the actuall aircrafts i have worked on and seen almost every little detail on. and i know all books out there regarding 88 has many major or minor faults !! and i thought it was about time to atleast get the some correct info on some of the Ju 88`s. Of 15000 buildt it was over 9000 modifications during the war so ofcourse there will always be differences and strange things about these aircrafts that will never be known and never 100% verified !! some or one off and others are made in quantities. but what do you mean with that it only needs belts rotary ?? I have the aerodetail nr 20 about Junkers 88 and its a good referencebook..but again.. the Ju 88`s seen in the book has modifications that are not original..like the R1 in englan..its missing sevaral parts inside the top canopy and the anteanna is not original german but english made of wood ( it also lacks the porcelainpart ) but thatone has the original yellow glass on the leading edge on the landinglight..this is newmade on the D1 in USA with clear glass..should be yellow.. and the D1 has floors missing ( both ) on the area where the bordfunker seat is located..details like the floor are now only reavelad with the A1 and they are both missing minor parts and covers in the cockpit ( and repainted ) so it does not show them as they were originally complete and the book also has the C version drawings on page 86 and the A1 on page 82 wrong..( somehow almost all books show the C and A1 with large lifeboathatch allthough they had a much smaller lifeboathatch..as most peolpe have belived they were all the same size..the large size did not appear until the A5 came and the A4 ) But again..its a great referencebook and absolutely worth reading !! but as i said some books has major faults and other minor..but without them we would be a lot poorer !! so ia glad they are there..pictures speak loud Guttorm Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
junkers88a1 Posted October 30, 2008 Share Posted October 30, 2008 other small but significant differences is also the step in steel on the inner left wing fairing. this is not present on the A1 but present on later version ( seen on page 37, picture 237 in aero detail ) but very often drawn on A1 schematics in books.. on this picture the size of the lifeboat hatch is clery visible..small on A1 ( same on C versions ) and larger on A5 ( same size rest of the war on all versions ) the square hole further up is covered on early versions by a square painted over wodden plate and hides the bakelite loopanteanna PRE 3..but on later versions the PRE 6 was used with a round clear glasscover ) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have the Dragon Bf-110 and the Vasco book and I was hoping for a good, easy find in reference material for the 88.......... Guttorm, is there any way that you can post your pics so that they can be "opened up" and expanded, maybe at a higher resolution for larger size, detail and clarity? You're better off posting them on your website, and then linking to them here. There's no file size limitation that way. There's a button for adding an image in the post editor, which will let you enter a URL for an image. Simply point it at the location of the image on your website, and hey presto! Allok Posted October 30, 2008 Share Posted October 30, 2008 what i want to see ( and i am nagging Revell about it but still no real yes or no..haha ) is the oilwagon in 1:32.. think about all the german aircrafts that out there in 1:32 that needs that oilwagin hehe we have one in our museum displayed with the Junkers 52 also so i am not giving up on that Signifier models, in France, make an oil wagon in 1/32.
