X case

I forgot to take photos before sealing it into the custom display cabinet. Perspex and aluminium bracket.

The decals are from Foxbot in Ukraine - intended for the digital camouflage scheme but I opted for the curvy pattern. Masked with heavy paper offset from the surface with rolled masking tape to give a blurred margin. Not sooo successful. In places there was overspray under the mask, but not too visible in the whole model. I only used wash in a few places. You don't really see rivets and panel lines in whole aircraft from a distance. I used the photo etched metal parts for the control surface hinges, which went OK, although a bit pointless with the model sealed in a case. The PE parts drove me nuts trying to laminate the parts for the antennae so I used the plastic parts.

I spent a lot of time buffing the clear canopy to remove the mould line, and was fairly happy with the result.

As the case all screwed shut. I did not want the model moving inside. I was considering making it diorama style with grey airfield concrete colour and lines, but chose to keep the plain wood, which nicely contrasts with the blue colours. I drilled 3mm holes in the underside of the wheels, which matched short projecting toothpick stakes embedded in the ply floor.

Great looking aircraft!  You did a wonderful job on the camo scheme, it is very eye-catching.
