I'd prefer resin only

I need one, sign me up please.

I'll probably be flogged for suggesting this as this is LSP, but you can't go wrong with Hasegawas 1/48 F-4G Wild Weasel kit. The kit can be found for a reasonable price.

This was a fun little 1/32 kit. Fairly simple. Biggest challenge was getting it to sit on its tricycle landing gear. I added nose weight but after everything was put together- twas still a tail sitter. So I used a small glob of blue-tak under the front wheel to hold her down. You can just see this in the photos. The only aftermarket I added was the Quick boost Ejection seat, which is a big improvement to an otherwise well-detailed kit. I had to do some minor surgery to cut out the molded-in seat and patch up the rear wall and ejection rails. Other than that- I added small diameter tube to replace the solid plastic gun-barrels. I also closed up the gun bay. I used the following paints and finishing techniques. This was finished in a RLM 81/82 over 76 cammo -Tamiya XF-63 German Grey for Interior RLM 66 -Tamiya XF-22 RLM grey for gear and bays. Normally I find this color too dark for RLM02, but this is a late war aircraft so what the hey... -Tamiya XF-5 + a little white for the RLM 82 -Polyscale 5050070 Brown Violet for RLM 81 -Mr. Color for the RLM 76 undersides -Gunze Acrylic RLM 04 for the Red on the engine intake -Brush coat of Future before decalling -Cut out decal film on individual insignia crosses -Did a ProModeler wash. There really isn't a lot of panel lines on this bird, I believe due to the very wooden construction of the real thing -Light paint chipping with a Prismacolor pencil -The seat cushion and belts were extensively hand-painted and weathered to bring out some interest. - Tires done with Vallejo Dark Rubber and a dry-brush of Raw Umber Fun build. I entered it in the 1/32 jet category at the April 2010 Madison, WI IPMS show. I didn't place but there was some STIFF competition! I had a few nice comments from other attendees. Here's some more pics:

Had to do some engineering to improve the fit of the forward fuselage to the main fuselage. Added some braces, stiffeners, thickened/widened areas with strip styrene. Used a ton of Superglue again. LOTS of putty and superglue at the seams to smooth this all out.
-
Did you enter this in the Madtown Model show this April? I think you won a bronze didn't you? I entered my HE-162 that was sitting right next to yours. I plan on creating a post of my build here soon to. That Asian guy who won 1st and 2nd with his natural metal F-104 and F-100 was insanely good!

the Teckniks pit I got a few years ago before Meteor crashed. We've got a nice Cannon digital with macro but my wife always has the thing hidden somewhere I can't get it. So I wind up using my iPhone camera out of convienience.

Showing some of the aged plastic- see contrast between yellowed areas and areas sanded down. Plastic was brittle and I had to do some of my own BDR . I removed the BDR Tamiya molded on and filled in the feuling probe area. Blood and sweat. I'll need to describe a little but I don't plan on rescribing the main fusalage, I'll live with the raised lines.

sweet close encounter! I build that Red Ripper CAG Bird about 4 years ago in 1/48 with 2Bobs decals and sold it to someone else who loved those markings.
-
I have no idea what the fit newly molded and without an aftermarket pit is like, but this thing was a BEAST to force together! Had to get out some serious clamps and musta used 2 tubes of superglue on the coward fusalage alone!
-
Jumped right into the Teckniks pit. This thing is a kit in itself. I imagine putting 10 hours into the ejection seats alone, lots of detail here. The brass instrunments went on pretty well found it difficult to get a good sharp photograph capturing all that detail.
-
For starters, I stripped away the previous owners paintjob- which was fo VF-84 Jolly Rogers. Love those markings too but have already done them in 1/48 a few years ago. Castro Super Clean to the rescue Sit tight with some rising and light scrubbing, parts were as good as new

I've always wanted to build Tamiya's large scale Tomcat but was historically out of my price range. A few years ago someone sold me a partially started kit on the cheap and I finally got started on it this year. This is an origional boxing- almost 30 years old! The plastic was showing it's age with parts warped, discolored and brittle. I figured if I didn't start this soon it would decompose in my stash! I picked up the Teckniks pit, wolfpack boarding ladder, Steel Beach intake covers, and a few other odd items for added details along with CAMs decals for VF-111 Sundowners, a old fav of mine. I fondly recall the old Monogram 1/48 kit hanging from my ceiling as a kid with the VF-111 sharkmouth on it and that inspired me to take this up. Here's a pic of the raw ingrediants. More to come. here's a pic for inspiration and hope for the end result:

Having worked primarily in the CAD/CNC age, I am amazed at the "old school" way of doing things!
-
That paint job ist Uber-fantastic! please Tell me what paints, fading, and other techniques you used to get that look! I have this kit in my stash and I am inspired now!

Everythng looks beutifull, especially that engine. Questioning the cockpit color-looks interior green. To my knowledge, the P47 had Dark Dull Green. I don't know of any paint out of the bottle for DDG however to reference. Don't let that stop you in any case, keep up the good work and keep posting pictures.

I can't find one thing to criticize. Incredible work. Stunning display. Like the paint can.
-
I need one too! Put me on the list.

IMHO, the Academy Viper is a very good kit. Not as nice as the Tamiya kit sure, but a great value for the money. I bought a front intake cover for mine to hide the bad profile and will be using the Black Box cockpit. I'm not aware of any problems with the engine exhaust.
-
Great work on those props, you at least inspired me to order the Quickboost set
-
I must say the background has me intrigued as much as the model! Looks like a mining pit!
-
Has anyone tried gluing the wing uppers in place first than attaching the lower wing/fuselage? I do this with success on many WW2 prop kits.
-
Looks great. My Eduard decals actually went on really well with Future, snuggled down to each little rivet. I had the same conundrum with the leading edge slats and the crosses. I tried cutting mine when wet and it didn't turn out so well, so I raided the spares box than cry them dry.
-
Your color looks fine. I used Tamiya XF-26 and was happy with my results.

Great start to a great aircraft. Your DDG looks good to me. I'm looking for decals to this plane myself if anyone can help.
