  1. That's a great spot regarding the wing stripe. Wasn't looking for anything like that originally
  2. I know. I was pointing out that just because it has 5 spokes, it doesn't mean that it's definitely a car door version.
  3. Yes, they are bubble tops
  4. Bubble tops had 5 spoke wheels
  5. Just looked through my Typhoon books and going with the light in the wing leading edge it's most probably a car door
  6. Could be either. Some bubble tops were built as car door versions and converted later on in life. If you knew the aircraft details that would help, also the airframe number would help to tell you if Tiffie or Tempest tail planes and if 3 or 4 blade props. What is of interest is the canon barrel plugs.
  7. The Mosquito barrels reach all the way to the breach, the Hurricane barrels go from the wing leading edge only. Mosquito linky http://www.master-model.pl/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=garden_flypage.tpl&product_id=180&category_id=8&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=56 Hurricane linky http://www.master-model.pl/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=garden_flypage.tpl&product_id=412&category_id=8&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=56 I have used the Mossie barrels and can honestly say they are worth getting. Massive improvement over the kit offerings.
  8. No, they were brought out for the Mosquito but can be used for the Tiffie
  9. They already do the 20mm Hispanos in 1:24 scale
  10. Don't know about the Hurricane but looking on the Fly web site the Wessex HU.5 barge looks rather nice.
  11. Superb work. That base looks so real as well.
  12. So thats the reason why my underpants are no good. I'll tell my wife that as she say's it's because I'm a fat b******d
  13. Can't answer that one but it's worth trying. Can't be that much new tooling would be needed for the additional parts? I suppose it depends on how well the 2 versions sell.
  14. Now can we start asking for Airfix to go the full distance and do the Tempest.
  15. Thats my birthday pressie sorted then. Wonder what the wife will say when she finds out what she's bought me.
  16. Haven't been able to do anything on this for a couple of weeks after having an accident at work and ended up with my arm in a sling for 14 days. So now I can make a restart. Brake lever and gun button have been given a couple of coats of Alclad then sealed so as to mask of for the second colour. Spade grip has been cleaned up, filled where needed and sprayed with primer. The same type of grip was used by both the Spitfire and the Hurricane. This means that both had different stock code numbers. The resin grip comes with both stamped into it so the number not needed has to be filled in. Now comes a problem. The grip covering has a nasty seam on it and cannot be rubbed down as this would mean losing the textured finish. As the seam is not flush, I thought mask of the high side and give the low side numerous coats of Alclad primer to build it up. If anybody has any other ideas, I'd love to hear them. Cheers
  17. Look at the smaller photos below the main one and you'll see the car door set up
  18. Try this link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Airfix-Archive-Hawker-Typhoon-Stereolithography-Prototype-Model-1-24-Scale-/201413931241?hash=item2ee534b0e9
  19. Forgot to add that the model is built but not painted and was used as a test bed for the production kits
  20. Just been on evilbay having a look at odds and sods and saw that Airfix has listed one their 1:24 scale Typhoon prototype models for auction. On closer looks, it has a car door fitment and not the bubble canopy. By this I mean it has the windscreen and door but no rear glazing. Interesting or what. Does this mean that an earlier Mk.I will be with us in the future?
  21. If you get the chance, get two P-47's. Nothing beats a pair of big jugs.
  22. Here's my 1:1 scale, Tail Boom Spitfire Mk.I, Ia, II spade grip. Recently bought of fellow LSP'er Junco. So far all I've done is clean up the gun button and brake handle then given them a coat of primer. For some unknown reason, I didn't take any photos of the brake handle, will include some next time. Casting looks very good regarding pin holes/air bubbles. Slight miss match with the molds on the spade grip but nothing to worry about. All stamp detail is really crisp and will look good with a wash. To give some idea of the size, I have included a photo with me holding the grip in one hand. I have on order from Maurizio (Tail Boom) a canon armed Spitfire grip, rocker switch instead of button, as well as a early and later RAF gun sight. Early with oval glass and later with square glass. Again these are all 1:1 scale. Thanks for looking
  23. If anybody is losing interest in this build, then they can't be interested in anything. As you say, so long as your enjoying it then thats all that matters. I for one am loving what your doing to an already expensive kit.
