  1. For wood on small bits/areas I use gouache paints over a cream base - sealed with Tamiya clears. Works great for 1/48-/72 Albatri fuselages, though it gets a bit wonky in larger scales. Still works like a charm on interior surfaces that won't suffer huge amounts of judging eyes.
  2. Not lots of rust on in-service panzers in the desert.Pictures of debris and burned-out tanks shouldn't be used as a weathering template for operational vehicles.
  3. Nice looking Eismeer 190! Stationed close to where my wife is from, IIRC.
  4. You'll just have to ask yourself "is the correction worth the extra money?". Wife and kids won't notice, few - if any - will notice at all. Sometimes it all seems like elitism and nitpicking has gone overboard.
  5. I'd reckon my stash is around 400-500. Won't sell anything, because of the prohibitively expensive shipping in Norway. Few would buy 'em because of that. I'll leave it up to the wife to sell them or throw them in the trash when I am gone. ... though being buried with them in a huge burial chamber, like some golden god, would be even better. People collect stuff. Paintings, wine, cars, movies, dresses, decorative china, toys, etc. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
  6. I am curious about the mind that came up with the nose art...
  7. 1/35 DML StuIG 33B, 1998 if I remember correctly. I also have a Verlinden "Black Prince" figure from the same clearance sale, still unbuilt.
  8. Might've been oxidized. I think the tanks were brass.Having never seen one with my own eyes, I can't be 100% on it.
  9. As far as I know, the fuel tank and ammo bins weren't painted. Might be wrong, and I've done all my Albatri wrong. Not much will be seen anyways.
  10. Not a huge problem. Will try to keep them as much straight OOB, fiction and all.Though if they look really ugly I will fill them.
  11. I've read about a few things to watch out for. The undercarriage will be interesting. Gotta figure out something for that.
  12. Instructions can have inaccuracies, and I want to avoid most of the traps. Since aircraft kits tend to be a little more... relaxed with showing placement, subassemblies and order of assembly, I want all that to be squared away. I build armor kits 9/10 times, and the problems are far less frequent in every aspect.
  13. Going to build the Trumpeter 109 G-6 "late" and the Revell 109 G-6 as a paralell build. Straight OOB, apart from new gun barrels on the Revell kit. Just need some general pointers, tips and tricks on assembly. Tirades about accuracy not wanted. Thanks!
  14. Still want them in. Pretty odd design choice by Hasegawa. Very toy-like appearance with those overly thick slats out.
  15. I'm basically going for a "look". Built it with the pilot figure and all, to capture the magic I felt when building kits as a child. Accuracy is straight out the window, I guess. ... next builds will be a dual Trumpeter and Revell G-6 build, and there will be enough head scratching in that one.
  16. I'd happily sort out those issues if I built mainly aircraft. But the Hase kit had been a dream up to that point, so I thought "maybe I fudged it? Or missed something?". Aircraft kits have "aircraft fit" - never perfect.
  17. I might just do that, Jay. Away from the 15th to the 29th, and the very last thing I checked before I left were those slats. Kinda soured an otherwise trouble-free build.
  18. Or! I could just leave the slats deployed and live with the shoddy look.
  19. Not caring about accuracy to a certain point (only has to look about right) most of those points don't matter. I only build vehicles seriously, aircraft are just to decompress. But not a single aircraft has just "fit". I think I'll just put it away, and most likely will never pick it up again. Not in the mood to putty, sand and scratchbuild something when I can build an Asuka M4 that doesn't need any of that. Anyhows, thanks for the help.
  20. Hello. I've been having fun building the Hasegawa 109 G-10, until I wanted to install the leading edge slats. I hate that I am supposed to model everything deployed (slats, flaps), so I cut the tabs off to be able to pose them up/in. The leading edge slats, however, simply refuse to fit. What's the simplest way to fix that issue? Supposed to be a quick OOB build, so I don't want to cut and carve if I don't have to.
