Yak is lookin really good! Thanks for the oil paint tutorial. I' ve been wanting to try this to knock the " toy" out my civilian ac but didn't know where to start. Are you thinning with turp or applying as is out of the tube?
No secret methods Stephen. The fuse is vac formed from a balsa mold. The first pulls have no detail and are used to make the metal panels. These are cut to size and then laminated to the balsa mold then .010 rod is glued to the mold to simulate stringers. The parts are pulled from this master mold.
The wings are cut and shaped from solid plexiglas. Surface detail is simply 1/32" tape. A silicon mold was made and the resin was poured. The wings are solid resin.
Then came the hard part! Aligning and fitting the parts.
Thanks for your interest...always enjoy your take on things.
Stephen,
Nothing is sweeter than a 30's bipe. Will not be a kit just a fun scratch build! Yes a take off run on a dew laden grass field on an early spring morning would be a dream. All we need is 375K?!?.
Mark, I couldn't find anything on Eddiies Super Waco. This a/c is based on the current reproductions by Waco Classic Aiircraft the YMF 5D. Have not decided on a color scheme as yet but
I'm a long way from paint. The 5D is a super.
Put it back before I call the police!!
Brian, we did meet at the NATS when you packing' your Fury and my...uh your award. Your Fury is topknotch! Was a good time and I found out about LSP there so it was all good.
Thanks all for your kind comments.
Here is the old Staggerwings Untd. Kit. About 1/3 scratch built using the decades old decals.Finished 7/11. Sorry, if photo doesn't appear. Still experimenting with posting pics.
Great start on an ambitious build! Have used same method for making props, but with basswood and bar stock aluminum. Never thought of using plastic. What a concept!!
