  1. Spent some time filling those awful gaps in the wing joints this evening......first with Green Stuff followed by Mr Dissolved Putty......all I can say is if you have never tried this stuff then you are missing something as it it sands beautifully and does not shrink like other solvent based fillers. While working on this I started on the Prop by Henri Dahne which was very very kindly donated to this build from a fellow modeler stateside whom I have never met before......blown away by his generosity and yet another reason why I love LSP above all other forums. This is a kit in itself to be honest with the most amazing smoothly cast resin I have ever seen.....a word of caution though is that if you do not have a set of vernier calipers it will make for a difficult assembly as tolerences are very tight as well as plenty of cutting/ sanding required on some parts, however coupled with the excellent instructions and the right tools this is joy to build. So far that's 15 parts to the build of the prop and looks so good, checked the fit against the Brian Fawcett update set and is a perfect f Thanks for looking and comments and criticism always welcome.. Regards.Andy
  2. Have managed to make some good progress this weekend, cockpit all masked off, fuselage seams all sorted and wings now on. As you can see I have a very large gap to fill in the wing joint, its the same on each wing both upper and lower, this is after lots of trimming/dry fitting as to begin with the gap was like the grand canyon........a great shame as otherwise the fit on this kit is great. Also have got the wheel spats together, need a little more filling in a couple of places and then add the missing rivit detail as it is missing on the resin parts, was planning on doing this at the same time as the nose section, quite important to add this as the kit has lovely restrained detail. Also added a Trumpeter wheel spat to show the size difference. The wheels are included in the Fawcett update set and are a huge improvement over the awful rubber kit items, I gace the wheels a quick coat of black before assembly which has got some damage now but this will be sorted later during the paintingweathering stage. Thanks for looking and your comments are always very welcome. Regards. Andy
  3. Thank you for the kind words guys, here is a link to the Ready for Inspection images http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=56128&page=1 Regards. Andy
  4. Thanks for your comments guys, these are realy old builds and among these I found a few builds about ready for paint......the one now interesting me to finish is a Trumpeter SAM missile launcher/ tractor. I used to be able to build but not paint but now not so bad. Regards. Andy
  5. Once upon a time I was a 35 scale armour fan and found a few bits and pieces I built around 10-15 years ago while having to clear the loft of my gear from my ex's place. Hope you like First is Whitmans Tiger 1 ready for rail transport, I think this helped along the way with Model Kasten Wheels/Tracks and some careful scratchbuilding, Zimmerit was applied with putty. Next up s the very very old Italeari kit with Eduard, Fruil tracks Finally the very old Tamiya Sdkfz 7/1 with a lot of scratch work. Model Kasten wheels tracks, Jordi Rudio gun barrels and a really nice etch set by a company I cannot remember Thank you for looking, also found a few kits that where on the shelf of doom that are basically ready for undercoat and paint............I used to get bored and never finish a thing, will I ever finish???? Regards. Andy
  6. Looking very nice Peter, fantastic build as ever. Regards. Andy
  7. Very nice work sir, making me want to head to the loft and dig mine out Regards.Andy
  8. Amazing work, looking foward to more. Regards.Andy
  9. Cool subject. Looking foward to this one. Regards Andy
  10. Would love to say I had a fun night at the bench but in reality it wasn't, tedious but necessary as I need to get the cockpit protected before I start cleaning up the fuselage joints. In the meantime I have been talking to Brian Fawcett who was concerned with the fit issues I was having with the engine cowl/fuselage joint and he felt after looking at things his end I had a set where the resin had shrunk and this morning as promised a complete new cowl assembly arrived and after a very quick dry fit this was confirmed with a very nice snug fit to the fuselage. Excellent service indeed and all I can say is this is a must have update set for anyone building this kit. Regards. Andy
  11. Thank you for your positive comments guys, The Trumpy spinner does have a back plate Kyrre, here is a shot of the spinner included in the Fawcett resin update set I am using, it still needs a fair bit of cleaning up yet though but looks pretty good I think. Regards. Andy
  12. Superb looking engine....cant wait for more on this build. Regards. Andy
  13. Thanks for your comments Harv, Kev......was a little disappointed at the fit so had a few days away from it else I think it would of made its way to the shelf of doom and never to see the light of day but hate doing that these days and only ever try to work on one model at a time now. So after a bit of thought I played around with the aluminium brace length til I got it to a suitable length to stretch the width of the cowl sufficiently and then I began scrapping sanding the fuselage around the engine bulkhead area to try and achieve that rounded look which is missing on the Trumpeter kit. Reasonably happy so far with this and a vast improvement over my last post, your comments very welcome as ever and thank you for looking. Regards. Andy
  14. Super clean work, following with interest. Regards. Andy
  15. Wow....this has come on a long way since I last looked in, very nice so far. Regards. Andy
  16. Fantastic work Mal, super smooth finish.......what clear coat did you use out of interest. Regards. Andy
  17. Very impressed with the fit of this kit so far, lower wing fitted with the minimum of filler required, also managed to build the replacement nose from Brian Fawcett which has gone together perfectly, Radiator's and grill painted prior to installation so some careful masking will be required. All looking good until I offered it up to the fuselage and found the fit to be poor as unde rsize by approximately 2mm. The above was taken even after adding some aluminium tubing to expand things a little but need to spend some more time on this and get it right but before that I need to rectify the sharp edge around the fuselage engine cowl joint on the kit as Trumpeter have missed the fact that this area is curved inwards. This area will take some time to get right but will be a huge improvement to the look of the finished kit rather than using the under size kit parts. Regards. Andy
  18. That is just beautiful. fantastic work Regards. Andy
  19. Fuselage halves all together now, cockpit fits perfectly as is the joint between the two fuse halves......very impressed with the fit of the kit parts on this so far. Be aware though if you are using the Eduard set that the instrument panel wont fit with the new pedals glued in place so I would suggest leaving them til the fuselage halves are together and install them from the front. Main cockpit parts together awaiting install into the fuselage. Comments/criticism are always welcome guys. Regards. Andy
  20. Made some good progress this weekend with some further weathering of the cockpit but also managed to get the HGW seatbelts made up and fitted, these are the old style versions so had to cut them out myself so very time consuming but well worth the effort, Just a little more to do on this and then i should get the cockpit closed up this week. Regards. Andy
  21. Thank you all very much for your thoughts guys as it's very much appreciated, I'm thinking now maybe a D.VII for starters now, then if all goes well something a little more complex before the AEG. Also if I get a bit stuck I know there is some amazing help out there and just need to ask Regards. Andy
  22. Thank you Zero 77 I shall have a look at those. Regards. Andy
  23. Hi everyone, really want to try a WW1 build particularly the AEG but maybe that's trying to run before I walk so my question is which is a good WnW project to go for as a starting point........I was thinking maybe a Brandenburg or do I just go for the AEG but I don't want to spend the money for it to sit on the shelf of doom!!!! Any thoughts would be welcome. Regards. Andy
  24. Have applied a wash and a little dry brushing, also added the colour parts from the Eduard set this afternoon/evening.......Beware anybody using this set as they will find the Radio set instrument faces don't actually fit and require some very careful filing to allow them to clip into their grooves on the inside of the set boxes which is a bit of a pain being pre-painted. Next up I will continue the weathering/shading to bring all this together, comments and criticism always welcome guys. Regards. Andy
  25. Hi Loic, It is actually RLM 02 but under the lamp in the evening when taking a picture it does have a green tinge to it. Regards. Andy
