    Hello,

     

    I have F-22 in my modelling cave where I have more place. Now I'm testing colors. I bought Italeri paint set "Modern USAF/US Navy Aircraft" consisting of 6 colours. I have an idea how to get prismatic paint effect without "Raptor Sheen" but I have to test it. More important question is: what colors ale appropriate for Raptor? Light Ghost Gray overall, dark areas Dark Ghost Gray and Gull Gray brighter areas? This is my idea but in fact, I have no clue.

    Thanks for your response :) Unfortunately budget collapsed after buying a set of missiles :( Now I can't afford any more add-ons for F-22. I hope that I'll buy AM wheels in nearest future :)

    About panel lines...I don't know if I'll fill them because I have to finish F-22 before march 13. I don't know if I will have enough time to putty and sand whole airframe.

    Ah, I see. Yea, the F-117 Wheels aren't the same as the F-22. Since the the F-22 shares the same tire as the F-15E;

     

    In 72nd, I don't think there's a decent AM F-15 wheels to source from.

     There is a F-15 wheels in 1/32 but unfortunately, unavailable in Poland.

     

    Anyway, I decided to try "kit" wheels and make'em similar to F-22 wheels. Result?

    Also, when analyzing photos, I realized that the angle of "verticals" is wrong. I've add a styrene strip to make'em more tilted

    I'm not working on a F-117 :) To be honest, I had a plan to use F-117 wheels as a F-22 wheels after some surgery but failed. Simply, my hobby shop won't get them as fast as I need. So I have to go with detailing of wheels that came with model.

     

    I have an academy kit.

    I can scan decals but won't be able to get to it for a week or so.

     

    Week? It still makes a chance to finish my Raptor before march 13 :) If you can, it would be great :) Thanks a lot! :m0152:

    PZL-230 Scorpion kitbash+scratch 1/48

    The PZL-230 Skorpion was a design for a Polish Air Force attack aircraft. The project was started in the late 1980s by the PZL (Polish State Aviation Works) and cancelled in 1994 due to a lack of funds. Skorpion would have had twin jet engines, a fuselage afterbody blending into the wing and small canards behind the cockpit.
    The project was developed by a team under Andrzej Frydrychewicz at PZL Okęcie, analyzing the experiences of modern wars, such as that in Vietnam and the Soviet war in Afghanistan and capitalizing on their experience with other recent Polish designs like the Orlik. Among the desired capabilities were Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) and maneuverability but with armored protection. It had to be cheap, easy to build and modify (due to its modular design). The early variant incorporated a single pilot, twin jet engines mounted on the upper fuselage like the A-10 Thunderbolt II and canard-type construction. It also required an ability to take-off and land on a runway of about 250 m in length, travel at speeds of up to 640 km/h, be armed with a 25 mm cannon and be able to carry up to 2,000 kg of both Warsaw Pact and NATO munitions. Composites, fly-by-wire and other advanced avionics were also to be used in its construction.
    In 1990 the design was changed, the Polish Ministry of Defense demanded a top speed of 1,000 km/h and an ability to carry 4,000 kg of equipment. The redesigned Skorpion became a heavier aircraft, the engines were moved into the central body. The changes required that the required runway length be extended to 400 m. The new design was also flatter, thus acquiring some stealth capabilities. This version was known as the 230F. A model of the 'F' version was constructed in 1992.
    Later versions were named 'D', and included a 'DT' training aircraft and a 'DB' combat variant. In 1993 the project was accepted by the airforce, but due to budget cuts it was cancelled in 1994.
    The PZL-230 was an ambitious undertaking for Poland, critics argued from the beginning that it was too ambitious. In the early days of the project, Polish aeorospace manufacturing in the People's Republic of Poland was subservient to that of the Soviet Union and limited to their innovations. After the events of 1989, Poland could import more Western technology, but she was also affected by the economic transformation from a communist to a capitalist economic system. The post-1989 government had other priorities than military. Although some reviews and evaluations indicated that — according to the specifications — the PZL-230 could have become one of the most efficient of the contemporary attack planes, and many argued that the PZL-230 could become an export hit,it was eventually cancelled. Today, the PZL-230 project is remembered as one of the most ingenious post-Second World War Polish airplane programs.

    Model is basically kitbash of A-10,F-16,F-22,Su-27. Decals are from Italeri Mig-23. Painting was done with Vallejo. Also Tamiya Weathering Set was used on the exhaust. Model has no panel lines because of awful amount of putty. There was no chance for srcibing anything. Still , I hope you'll like it :)/>

    IIRC, I think there are several custom decal places out there.  The most recent one I heard about is Firebird Designs.   Check them out and give them a shout with what your requirements are and see what they come up with.

    My Giant F-22 Raptor arrived from Amazon and I love it!

    As for decals, I was planning to scan and scale up some of the Academy or Hasegawa decals in 1/48.

    So I'm also looking for a company that will custom print decals.

    Folks,

    I have a problem so I have a question. Do you know a company where I can order 1/32 decals for F-22? I wrote an email to Twobobs but they answered that they don't do such custom decal sheets. Maybe you know any company that can do it? I have no chance to design it by myself and I don't have a printer so "do-it-yourself" option is unavailable :)

    I've been wanting an F-22 in this scale.

    Nice to know there IS an option after all.

     

    Glad that you like it :) I'm really happy that there is an production F-22. No matter that it's a toy :)

    Thank you! I fought an unfair battle with Testors YF-22. I don't want to remember how much putty went into this kit.

    I've also started detailing wells and bays.

     

    This was a nightmare, because after finishing I realized that I made huge mistake. There are only about 13 of these "stripes" in F-22 bay. I made much more, TOO MUCH!

    I don't know if remove unnecessary "stripes" or to live with them. Both options bother me.

    Hello!

     

    My name is Artur, I'm from Poland. I'm not a everyday large scale builder but some aircraft models just HAVE to be large to look right :) I think this is especially true for F-22. Sometimes I have problems with detailing, especially wiring so I hope that you can help me :)

    Few years ago (2007 as far as I'm concerned) I build 1:32 YF-22 by Testors. It was one of my first 1:32 models. I modified it as I could but result wasn't so good. Lack of skill was visible. This time I try to do it better.

    As far as I love F-22 I could not force myself to convert Testors YF-22 into F-22. I know that's possible, I've seen converted models (mainly on LSP) but amount of job was scaring me.

    Few weeks ago while reading G.I. Joe forum I stumbled on interesting info, that True Heroes F-22 is almost perfect 1:32. I quickly scanned website, if it's available in Cracow's Toys'r'Us. Of course, it was. I checked length and span and surprise! It's really 1:32. Because it was Christmas Sale the price was really low. And now it's time to convert a toy into model!

    Mine F-22 is basically the same but desert yellow/green camo instead of gray/dark gray

    First of all - canopy. It was too big. According to scale drawings I cut it in proper places. Canopy now has right shape. Cut-off parts were glued to fuselage as a cockpit sidewalls
