  1. almost getting there, need to do some washes, decals, "tiny stuff" (antennae, steps, etc.). Still not sure about painting the upper wings yellow.......... J.
  2. Hi Jeff, It's the Combat kit, very, very basic, and ofcourse no interior, bought it from Larry and wanted to contribute to the PTO groupbuild, but "ofcourse" got side tracked with other chores and things. The interior is scratched as good as possible, had some help thru publications like squadron and the internet, and so the interior might not be of "resin-quality" like for the 48th scale kit but it's a representation. I'm shooting the camo this evening and will try to finish it more or less by the end of this week, so there will be pictures of the interior. i'll keep you posted, thnx, Jack.
  3. Jeff, AFAIK there are no after products in 1\32 for the Kingfisher, so it's all scratchbuilt, and i tried to fix it as good and accurate as possible, but this kit is a *#@#!!!...to build... Anyhow, i had it planned for the PTO group build, but now i might as well finish it in an earlier version with two tone camo, white and red tail and yellow wings and such. at least, that's what i'll be trying to do.... J.
  4. but trying to do some preshading to the fuselage and main float. getting further and further.....
  5. guys, everyone, thanks for the assistance uptill now, i'll make good use of them, and Larry, i'll send my addy to ye, IOU... Jack.
  6. ...stop nagging...just build the damn thing already...ah....eventually.... ;)
  7. Yeah, you're right, and i both have them, including the Detail&Scale issues, but in neither can one find a clear picture concerning the back cockpit. Like i said, this You-tube film is actually the best way to have a "good" look at it. (on second thoughts...nah, but it shows how it was done to get into the backcockpit......)......http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=mZMd4vupSpI J.
  8. Larry, you're right about the colouring of the letters, ofcourse it's red, thanks. But i'm finishing the Kingfisher right now (Dah!!!!), and building the Lightning in modules so to speak, so i can delay the back cockpit a while, but i'd appreciate any help in this..... have a nice weekend, Jack.
  9. thanks for the tip Larry, i don't have the monogram kit, but on the stenciling i heard another story, in that in general all the stenciling on the black ships were very obscured, so hardly visible, so i'll just put on the stars and bars and the yellow numbers and such. But if you could be of any help then i'd appreciate some close up detail pictures of the back cockpit, especially the seating. Understand the seat was a canvas type contraption and the operator just sat on it with his legs flat on the cockpit floor, bit protruding with his feet into the front cockpit (as far as i could see in a very interesting "you-tube" movie on the subject). Anyhow, thanks again for the tip. Jack.
  10. KOTR, you've got it, it is indeed the "M" version, using the Trump kit, and applying an obscure vacform kit (containing the aft fuselage, radarpod and clear canopy part) i picked up at a meeting some years ago. Don't know the manufacturer, but i think it is a Horizon kit, very basic, but usable. i'll keep you posted. J.
  11. Well, sometimes i do "flap" a lot, but i'm sorry Mark, better check the first answer.....
  12. ....are you sure?......which one?
  13. ..IMPRESSIVE GRAHAM, SIMPLY IMPRESSIVE, good show... cheers, Jack.
  14. Ted, maybe you missed this one, but it's in the LSP article section: http://www.largescaleplanes.com/articles/F5/F5.html Jack.
  15. fantastic tip on how-to, especially with the punch and die set, but don't do as i did: Somehow i must have left the individual P&D stamps (or whatever they are called) out of the little box they came in with, in a "damp" environment, and maybe that is why they are oxidized (in other words they rust like hell.......), which makes their accurateness a bit questionable after cleaning up, which is only possible by using sand paper,.....ouch......but i can still use them, but ye be warned... Btw, i must admire your steady hand in this Alan, good show... J.
  16. Hi Robert, To start with the question at hand; No, they are not a re-box, they're different kits. And on the subject of "one-being-better-than-the-other": E.g. taking the P51 you'll have to decide between these two issues and the Trum kit in 1/24. I myself only have the bandai and airfix release, and between these two i'd have to be honest in that i like the bandai issue better than the airfix one, BUT the latter is more accurate. That being said, i think that lots of Stang-experts at LSP can give you a complete rundown on which one is actually the best in representing a P51... maybe one of the others can jump in now???..... cheers, Jack.
  17. ......very, very nice work Alan, can't wait to see the finished masterpiece.... cheers, Jack.
  18. John, like i said before, when i saw your diorama the first time, this is very, very impressing, you're catching the moment perfectly. Your eye for detailing is amazing, but ah....where do you put such a gigantic scenery??.. And talking about carrier detail, maybe you can help me, what are these "fishing-pole" protrusions sticking out from the edges of many decks? Can't figure them out. once again, congrats on your build!! cheers, Jack.
  19. reading all these comments, i indeed think it is a coincidence, because the donald duck image is clearly seen on the box itself, but then again why use a very, very black plastic wrapping as if the contents is "for your eyes only"? Ah well, anyhow, i'm very pleased with this kit, and it really looks GOOOOOD.... J.
  20. ..yeah, heard about them, the so called Decal junkies, addicted to the limit....... J.
  21. Hello Kyle, i like it, looking very good, which bluetype did you use? Jack.
  22. On opening my trump P47 box, and finding the decalsheet (enclosed in a plastic bag) i noticed a additional little black (not clear....) plastic bag, 1.5 x 2 inches, containing only 1 decal showing donald duck, apparently in a "embarrissing position".........at least i think it was embarrissing to the producers, in such a way that they went thru some effort in shielding this decal from "the public"...(whereas the same decal is showing on the outside of the box!!!!!). I'm sorry, i don't get it: How far will this rediculous sensorship go, even in modelling, where a "bare-tailed/ featherless/naked tail" on a duck, which is a caricature in itself, is treated as being moraly unacceptable. i don't get it, can somebody explain pleeeeeze..... jack.
  23. decided to put it "on wheels" eventually.......(sorry for picture quality)
