  1. Small update, I thought I had everything sanded paper thin and all aligned. If anybody has tried the CAM detail set they will know where I am coming from, endless looks at alignment and everything appeared to fit OK. I thought I will play safe first and using superglue in small spots I started from the rear top, front top of nose, underside of nose and when I thought I was on the homeward leg the bottom rear when the damn thing split apart F**K. The thing (notice I am now pissed at it) has been cleaned up and the nose gear bay has been seperated and quite a bit more shaved from under the cockpit tub, the resin parts are as thin as can be and I have added some tabs to help when the two halfs are re-united with one and other this will happen tomorrow. I now wish I had made it OOB like Scotsmans Tonka but I have started so I will finish, thanks for listening to my rant as everybody in the house has disappeared. Cheers Graham.
  2. Thanks guys it's really great when people take the time to help others out I really appreciate it Thanks Graham.
  3. Hi guys I was going through my Luftwaffe books and I came across the book by Heinz J Nowarra Focke-Wulf 190 & Ta152, on page 129 it has a 3 way drawing of the 152-H and the 152C. If these are right then the ID kit is a 152C as it has the bulges on the top of the engine and bulges inboard of the wingroot while the 152-H has none of these is this correct and can anybody confirm this. Cheers Graham.
  4. Hi I am doing the TA-152-H in 1/24th scale, it is Derek who is contemplating the TA-154 Moskito but thanks anyway. Graham.
  5. Thanks guys, I will take this all on board and start collecting the "other " parts. I think I will post a picture of the kit and then maybe you guys could take a look and see how good/bad the ID kit is as all I have is the kits plans. Cheers Graham.
  6. Hi guys here is a question for our Luftwaffe experts, I bought an ID TA-152H in 1/24th scale and can I use any parts from the Aifix kit FW-190-A/F as I can get one quite cheap? I was thinking of using the Contact Resine cockpit set for the Trumpeter Dora as this would make life a bit more easier or do you have any other suggestions that may help. Cheers Graham.
  7. Hi Guys well the cockpit is nearing completion, just a bit more weathering and wiring and then she can be closed up. Due to the rare warm weather that we are having just now in Scotland modelling is at a premium as the kids are taking up all my spare time so everything is progressing sloooowly, the wings, tail and elevators are all done so it should come together real soon. I left the boxes behind the seats in the cockpit colour as I don't have a clear shot of which colour they should be, but I hope you like it. Cheers Graham.
  8. Hi guys just a small update, I think I am going crosseyed as it is all small drops of paint on a cocktail stick and an eye glass but I am slowly getting there. I take my hat off to all you jet jockies as I find it a bit labourous doing jet cockpits, I have included the real backseater picture at the end. I am away to do the side consoles now. Cheers Graham.
  9. I use white glue on internal seams, i.e engine nacells, canopies, bomb bays and alike as a filler but I haven't used it on seams but I have heard of Tip Ex being used as a filler. Graham.
  10. Well done Erwin first balsa now scratchbuilding you will be building vacs next Love watching your balsa builds and you make a great job of them keep up the good work . Graham
  11. Sorry guys but I thought I would split the prop jobs up with a jet, it is only a small update. I forgot how labour intensive jet cockpits are or I am out of practice so here's the pilots instument panel nearly finished, I went with the varnish to hold the acetate sheet in place then again for the etched part and when dry I put a small film of superglue around the edge to hold it in place. One of the changes from the GR1 to the GR4 is the screen in the centre of the panel. Cheers Graham.
  12. Hi guys what is the best way of fixing the acetate film between the plastic and photo etched part on instrument panels I normally use decals but I thought I would give this method a go I was thinking of either using varnish (humbrol matt or clear) or Kristal Klear any suggestions. Cheers Graham.
  13. Radu, absolutely astounding work the gear bays and cockpit are just amazing Graham.
  14. McG, pm sent regards Tornados. Graham.
  15. It sounds good but still a bit pricey, I work on two of the Tonkas systems here in Edinburgh. The TIALD pod and the LRMTS, as I am a test engineer in the Laser Systems Dept so I have a bit of a soft spot for the Tornado and Jag as it uses the same systems as well also I am looking forward to seeing some of your progress shots. Cheers Graham.
  16. Hi there how about that, you don't see one for ages then they are as common as muck What Tonka are you going to do, I am planning on Danger Mouse or Truffle Snufflers as that is the kids favourite cartoon characters. I had the BB set but I thought it would be a bit fiddley to fit, how is the Flightpath set as all that etched metal looks complicated Cheers Graham.
  17. Hi guys here is my new project, taking a break from the Lanc and I just got my decal sheet yesterday so onwards we go. It has the CAM detail set plus the Eduard set for the cockpit. Graham.
  18. Hi guys does anybody know the colour of the interior and bang seats in RAF Tornados, I am going to use Humbrol paints I think the interior is 145 (medium grey) and the bang seats are now 164 (dark sea grey) can any body confirm this. Thanks Graham..
  19. I couldn't make the nationals this year as the prospect of fighting my way across the Forth Bridge with all the disruptions and 2 kids in the car were just not worth it, but there is always next year . Cheers Graham.
  20. Very nice and is that a 43sq phantom lurking behind Graham.
  21. Well we have a display at the old airfield just outside Edinburgh at East Fortune and one at RAF Leuchers that's really it for Scotland as far as major shows go for warbirds. The one at East Fortune has been cancelled this year beacause of the G8 summit at St Andrews!! seemingly they can't give the aircraft overnight stops at Edinburgh and if the Government get their way Leuchers will be a gonner as well. Cheers Graham.
  22. Hi Phil glad you made it over, the ID kits of the Halifax and Stirling are very hard to come by. I have an ID Hallibag and that took some time to aquire, the kits are very basic as all you get is a shell. I will wait until the Lanc is finished and see where I can store it before deciding what I will do with the Halifax. Cheers Graham.
  23. Hi Tony here is a good review of the build on a Trump G-6 from M.M. http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/axis/luf...me/109/24g6.htm Cheers Graham.
  24. The Trumpeter Spit has figures, I just gave mine away so post asking if anybody has the kit and if they are going to use the figures. There are 3 in total, pilot in full gear, ground crew and I think one in an RAF tunic. Cheers Graham.
  25. Hi Mike I thougt of doing the Dambuster first as it would have save me the trouble with the mid upper turret but when I looked at the bomb bay with it's cut out and curves that put me off, this is my first bash at a vac as I am mainly an OOB modeller and that shape was too daunting for me . I have managed to get this far with some great help from Larry and I must say that it is very enjoyable to work on this project knowing that she will be a one off, if another is built it will be finished in a different manner and god knows what possessed me when I cut off the bomb doors . I don't know how much will be seen of the W/Ops station but there will be a window either side and the astrodome is situated above it so something will be seen. I am now waiting for my waldron bezels and Sutton Harness to arrive so I can start on the instrument panels at the front end, again this is something I haven't used before but I got the instrument dials from Mike Grant and MDC so here's hoping. To the guys who have never tried a vac just grab one and do it it can be very therapeutic and frustrating at the same time I never wanted to build anything out of wood but seeing Erwin and his Fokker it may have changed my mind, again it is something original and very personal. Thanks for all the nice comments guys as after reading them it sort of gives you a spur to get a little more done, especially from the guys who's models make me go wow it is very flattering. Cheers Graham.
