Shawn M
Hasn't bled through the paint yet? from what I recall reading the sharpie will eventually eat its way back to the top
Ryan
No but I've had other problems with it. The mist coat works fine on a spoon but in practice its hard to make it look good. The flakes seem to land at an awkward nagle making the effect hard to see. Cockpit Sidewalls by The 3rd Placer, on Flickr Metal Floor by The 3rd Placer, on Flickr I finally gave up and went to pencil work, but it may be too dark, disappointing really. Cockpit Sidewalls by The 3rd Placer, on Flickr Untitled by The 3rd Placer, on Flickr I guess the dark lines are ok for the closed cockpit, but i'm still trying to think of a better way. Sigh. Shawn M
have you tried a silver sharpie as the squiggle instead of black?
Ryan
No I haven't tried that yet, I might grab one on the way home. Shawn M
Ryan
I thought about using Testors Metalizer aluminum then apply the pattern with a pointed Tamiya q-tip then lightly buffing the whole part. The idea that the focused pattern would turn a different color. Shawn M

Ryan
Had some interesting effect with metalizer. Sorry can't post from my location, but here is a link. https://flic.kr/p/25ynS7p Shawn M
Ryan
The swirls in the finish are from a Tamiya q-tip. The focused dragging across the surface produces a polished swirl. Very realistic, still have questions at this point, but it looks promising. Shawn M

Ryan
See how the light reflects in the tight squiggles, you are seeing that refection too in the larger ones to the left. Question now is, how to seal it, how to weather it etc. Edited March 30, 2018 by Ryan
