RBrown
I've not seen any "E" models in anything other than OD over grey (which is how I painted this one). The two-tone camo was on the B/Cs and was the original RAF finish (just like the P-400s). I love the Chinese markings and "US Army" on the underside of the wings. Tim W. 104 was one of the first batch of six replacement P-40Es and was almost certainly received in its original Olive Drab/Neutral Gray camouflage. Later photos definitely show the machine with two (or three) upper surface colors applied (Post 12). In this photo 104 appears to be in partial repaint. Note the markings applied to the wheel covers and the change to fishtail exhausts. The machine would subsequently revert to the original exhausts. waroff, MikeMaben and MikeC

And the mouth and eye were repainted, there is not the same teeth number and eye is higher RBrown

Read on factory drawing about P40 paint & markings this nota(jun 42): "all P40E-1 airplanes allocated to China to be camouflaged in accordance with aircorps requirements specified in..."P40 US marking drawings*", except that portion of the rudder which is beneath the elevators when elevators are in neutral position. That portion is Air Corps gray such as the underside of airplane.(USAC: paint entire rudder dark olive drab) No other markings are applied other than chinese roundel. Roundels are located on under side of each panel & at same location as specified by "P40 US marking drawings*", no roundel is placed on top side of panels" * underside: NG43, top side: OD41 ( camouflage fringes Medium Green 42 were added on drawing, jan 43),
