thierry laurent
Hi, This is a classical problem with old vac kit: flimsy and too thin parts! I never tried this on a full kit but the best way I found to solve this is to paint the vac parts with glue! I used CA glue but I'm wondering if epoxy one cannot be used as well? For sure, you've to avoid as plea any glue that releases heat when it polymerizes... Moreover, this implies finding a way to strengthen the part to leave it in the correct position before doing this. This is surely not a panacea but I've yet to find a better solution... I think that Magic sculpt is quite similar to Apoxie scult. This is what I use to modify shapes on airplanes and this is a little bit more souple than Milliput. Personally, i think this has more a polystyrene look and feel when it is hard. After the Supersabre, the Voodoo is my favourite century fighter! Cheers Thierry
Iain
Where parts are very thin on vacs I 'back fill' using casting resin, or epoxy putty such as Milliput - does the trick nicely and easier to work with *when* you break through the vac skin than any of the glues. Guest Jessie_C
You begin to discover why Combat Models is a description rather than a brand name... Derek B
