Daywalker
I am getting ready to start Tamiya's Spitfire Mk.VIII, and after reading reports of the cowl panels' sometimes tricky alignment, I have decided to build mine with the cowls permanently fastened. Has anyone else gone this route, and if so- any tips on doing it? Curious about which parts to leave off to aid their fit, or any other advice here. TIA! Dave J
I haven't done it yet with the cowls glued.... But I have built two of them so far! You will need to use the the crankcase and the front cover and all the supercharger parts on the rear to be able to align the prop correctly. LSP_Ron
I've built the Mk IX and the Mk XVI and found the cowl it's self is the tricky bit, not the bits underneath. That said Meoggo (Dave) is correct, you need to build the basic engine without the details. It's pretty easy to figure out studying the instructions over a coffee. Daywalker
Thanks for the help fellas! I think I will go ahead with the kit instructions, and when it comes time to fit the cowl panels I will just make sure they are tight and glue 'em on that way.
