Daywalker
With Obant's question earlier asking people how they protect and display their finished builds, I went and measured my display cabinet to see if my recently finished jet will fit inside of it- unfortunately it does not!!! With that said, I am looking to buy an acrylic case for it, and was curious if anyone has any recommendations as to the best source for these are here in the states? I looked for some on a Google search, and was overwhelmed with how many there are. I am hoping someone here might have one they have used in the past. Thanks! Bill Cross
You can buy acrylic by the sheet and custom cut your own. I have not done it in years, but I believe an ordinary cross-cut saw will slice through the quarter inch variety.
Daywalker
Thanks Bill! Unfortunately, i do not really have the resources to cut and make my own. I found this company online: Custom acrylic cases Seems a bit pricey, but I really do not know how much one of these should cost?
LSP_Ray
I have had a couple acrylic cases made for me by a local plastics shop. It isn't cheap. I think mine ran about $60 for a 12"x9" x10" top, no base ( I already had a base). However they did a much better job than I could have ever done. The tops were made of three pieces as one piece is folded 90 degrees twice - no seams - then two end caps glued on. Looks very professional that way. With a local provider there is no shipping charges which helps with the costs.
Daywalker
Great idea Ray! I hadn't thought of checking locally, but will do so now. I like the idea of the front, back, and top as one long piece, less seams that way. Thanks for the tips!
