thierry laurent
Hi! Typhoon units used trainings rockets in 1944-45. It seems that they were made of the classical rocket body with a cement warhead. I guess that if you want to put rockets on a postwar Typhoon, you should probably use such rockets on Mk3 rails, shouldn't you? Does anybody know a picture showing such warheads? I'd like to know if they look like the classical frag or AP ones (aerodynamically shaped). TIA
Kagemusha
They were the standard 60lb type, all black. There was an article in AIR Modeller sometime ago, I no longer have it - went on ebay - but I did take some pics of the illustrations, if you pm me your email addy I'll send them you. Barry
Same double stack set up was done for the Mossy was it not? Barry
Edgar Brooks
It was similar, but this one was an attempt to link two rockets together, as a single package; the Mosquito set-up still utilised single rockets, although, of course, the salvo could still be used. Anyway, this is the back end, which is normally unseen Edgar
thierry laurent
Thanks Edgar! If I analyze correctly the pic, the dimensions seem to be than same than the ones of the classical HE 60lb but with a blunt nose. Thierry
Edgar Brooks
Absolutely true; the body was a standard diameter drainpipe, with a threaded end, onto which the choice of head could be screwed. Edgar
