I think even wine these days no longer uses lead foil as a seal. The last few I tangled with seemed to be some form of slightly malleable plastic. Three dollars a gallon! Could be that the laws are different out here mate. I'm not a big wine drinker though (I'm not a big anything come to that), so my expertise doesn't extend far at all. I can remember when toothpaste tubes were made out of some sort of malleable metal foil (was that lead too?), but now they're all plastic.
