  1. As the title says: Do you see merit (preferably profit ) in producing decals for Tamiya's forthcoming F-51D? The "Was that too Fast"-option is already (too) well known from the 48th scale offering... Besides, many ANG units flew the F-51D in very colourful markings. Heck, even some active USAF units had you take out your sunglasses... Thanks in advance, guys! Erik.

I still can´t leave the early jets/Korean war aera, just so many interesting subjects. i have done an F-80, F-84, F3D, Mig-15, Yak-23, Mig-9, F4U, panther and skyraider, still wanting an F-51, but i am waiting for the release of a later revell kit.... but something is missing, the jet most people think of first when they think of the Korean war i have the Kinetic kit with Harolds nose, gunpanel, pit and wheels. just ordered the CMK airbrake (i know its for the Hasegawa kit, but it includes the amunition compartment door/crew step that seems to be open on every other Sabre pic)

Never going to finish this one in time for the deadline, but i think its the right place to start, so here goes: waiting for some parts for my corsair, so i put it on hold. i have been reseraching the F3D for quite a while and got the tigger vac, so no turning back now. this is what you get: 001 by karl holubar, auf Flickr
  4. After finishing one of my other 1/72 projects, today I started on my next big project. A Tamiya 1/32 P-51D Mustang which will be done up as a RAAF 77 Squadron plane, based out of Japan during the early years of the Korean Police Action. I have been collecting a bit of aftermarket for this for a while, though whilst doing so, I'll be using much of the what you see here. I'll be using my Silhouette cutter again for many of the markings. So after spending in the morning pouring over my copy of Mustangs, ADF serials, Large Scale Planes and some other books, I got started. It always feels great making the first cut on a new kit. The first two assembled pieces. A few hours later I had the sub-assemblies of the Supercharged Merlin together and ready for paint. I'm loving the details on this engine. A few coats of Tamiya Semi Gloss Black later. A little detail work and dry brushing, and its well on its way. Still a lot to go though. I want to try my hand at the fuel lines and ignition leads, though the thought of it does make me nervous. Next stage is underway, but thats enough for now.
  5. Hello! I am in with Trumpies well-known F4U-4 kit. With Snake! - markings of course Have the kit on the to-do list for some time. I want to build it OOTB, only adding a little bit of AM to overcome ejector pin mark jamborees around the UC and to correct a few omissions of Trumpeter; mainly seat harness and prop shapes. So I will go with the kit and: - Aires wheel bays - SAC UC legs - Eduard interior PE - Quickboost visier - Rutman prop blades - Rutman wheels Next stop: Stashdiving to locate Jerrys resin parts... - dutik
  6. OK, folks, time to have some fun with a MiG. With any luck at all, this will be one of my entries in the 2017 convention in Omaha. Standard Trumpeter kit, with added AM ‘pit, weapons, landing gear, wheels (Profimodeller if I can find any), flaps detailed (still thinking on that one), Grey Matter tail, markings of Russian ace Major PV Minervin, 16th IAP (or similar). I'll still be trying to wrap up a Tony I'm working on, but I'll be playing with this too. I've already photographed the daylights out of the kit for the eventual review I'll be doing, but need to finish the Skyraider review first.
  7. Hi, I started this project some years ago but it is still a "long" work in project. I've always been fascinated by this plane. I guess that it is possibly because it was the final Spitfire iteration used in British-led operations and also because this is a mysterious topic. Mysterious? Yes, indeed. You'll be surprised to see that so few books cover this final variant correctly. Most scale plans have many major errors, technical manuals are nearly impossible to find, no walkaround has ever been published and the only survivor is not in a museum in UK but hidden in a US private collection and has been deeply modified to go on flying... :-((( So, with regard to references, without a major effort, I cannot say that the context was favorable...! And with regard to the kit? Well the situation is not really better! We have the Matchbox/Revell Mk22-24 and some resin parts but they do not cover all Mk47 idiosyncrasies... So, the hunt for parts intended to save time was already a project! So globally, what is currently in my list of items: - the Matchbox kit - the Alleycat FR47 set and its previous Brit bits iteration - the Mastercasters Mk24 cockpit set - the MDC Q-type harness - the Warbirds (now Greymatter) Mk22/24 airframe update set and the Seafire drop tank - the SAC copy of the Tamiya landing gear legs - the rockets from the Hobby craft Sea Fury - some MR models lenses for the camera ports - one resin British camera from Silver wings - the Iconicair Mk22-24 cowling update set plus tons of plastic sheet, rods, strips, aluminium sheets, etc. etc..... and a good set of scribing tools! Some of the items were purchased after the project started. We will see how it is possible to put all those elements together. I also hope to clarify some blurry matters. Next step will ask for pictures!
