  1. Very quick update, washer plate added for the rear wing pick up and sill added to the inside of the door opening, this has yet to still be refined more Cheers Anthony
  2. You are welcome Mike. Let me know if I can help with any 75sqn Mosquito stuff when the time comes Cheers Anthony
  3. Dan, you are a lunatic mate.......I LOVE that! I had no idea the 2 airframes were so different even though they look very similar. Keep up the great work, I am watching with great interest. That is a very cool looking plane. Cheers Anthony
  4. WOOO hoooo, so pleased to see this again!!! Hard to believe you started with the old Revell kit, looks nothing like it now....which is a good thing Beautiful finish and overall look Cheers Anthony
  5. Thanks guys, with nice comments like that how can I not forge ahead with her! Just been adding some washer plates to the fuselage where the rearmost wing pickup point is on bulkhead 4 under the flap, Just about to make a template for the ground power socket cover so I can scribe one above the flap on the port side. Cheers guys, means a lot Anthony
  6. Thanks guys! Been working on her all afternoon as well. Just worried that when my Tamiya 32nd one arrives this one will end up on the shelf of doom! Cheers Anthony
  7. Thanks Brian, much appreciated Well with all the chatter about the new Tamiya Mosquito, its back to the old school Airfix one for me again... Bit of a change of tack the past week or so. Decided to get some work done on the fuselage and make a start on getting rid of all the ejector pin marks! I have got them all off the cockpit interior and then started adding the ferrules and details on the cockpit floor. I noted that the leather boot around the control column needed a series of eyelets for the laces to go on the back section. First I scribed the line where the leather edges meet up. I then used my Waldron sub-miniature punch set and with my smallest one I punched out a series of eyelets. These were then glued in place and a compass point was pressed heavily in the centre giving me a perfect circular eyelet and a deep hole in the centre for lacing to go. Also the bulkhead where the nav sat was covered in armour plate. I scribed these on and drilled tiny holes and inserted rod to simulate the nuts. The flare cartridge holder was shortened on the top row and a mounting bracket made for the flasher unit (it appears not fitted to RNZAF machines) I turned my attention to the rear bulkhead just behind the canopy. Not all kits are correct here and the same is true of the Airfix kit. NZ2328 as well as many FB-VI's just had a basic panel here as seen by this pic of FB26 KA114 My new part to match 2328's This then led me to the big wing/fuse pick up member on the upper wingroot. The scribed hole is in the correct place and the oblong panel behind it is not the right sape etc, so this was filled with superglue and filed/sanded smooth. I then drilled out the hole and reamed it to fit an appropriate size plastic rod. I slid it in and held it in place whilst I sanded it to the same contour as the fuselage. I then 'slightly' rebated it in the hole and glued it in. This now gives me a correct representation on the outside and a location point for the interior pick-up structure. You can see here also I have the location for the trailing aerial mount and also the rest of the door internal frame is being re-done at the bottom I have also started work in the bomb bay area as well... Lots to go, but heaps of fun!! Thanks for looking in gents. Off to spray some Mr Surfacer after I finish this cuppa coffee Cheers Anthony
  8. Hi Dave, I love your book and use it all the time as my go to quick reference for my 24th Airfix kit I am building here on LSP. One small correction though, the contributor of Ferrymead Mosquito pics is Denys Jones not Deryk...LoL. Thanks again for putting all this great info together for us modellers! Cheers Anthony
  9. Thanks Ron, much appreciated Mark, Ashley Lamb was the Accurate Aircraft guy, you are correct he was from Australia. I dont know where he is these days but he was a really nice guy. We caught up when he came out to NZ to visit and I was able to help him out with some Mosquito research. He gave me a set of 2 stage Merlins and a set of instructions and drawings which were really good. Seem to remember his Merlins were really well done at the time too. For some reason I dont have the resin anymore but have the drawings Wonder what he is doing now... Cheers Anthony
  10. Something about that fighter nose...its the Tamiya kit for me!
  11. Oh man, so pleased to see you working on this again! You are doing a fantastic job, well done mate!
  12. Hi Dave, I know this is a very old thread, but I was loving what you were doing here. Have you made any progress? Cheers Anthony
  13. Mmm yes that does look nice! Looks fast just sitting there!
  14. Hi Brad, I don't think so, but cant say for sure, sorry.
  15. Hi Brad Yes it will have the correct model Merlin in the kit.
  16. Hi Edgar, great to hear from you! The Airfix/Hornby Mosquito has some errors, but with a bit of work I reckon can be made into a show stopper (so to speak). They gave us a great canvas with which to work!.....Now back to filling those ejector pin marks on mine...LOL. Now I wonder if I can shoehorn the Merlin 25 into a Tamiya Spit and with some work make a Vc??
  17. Or get the 24th Airfix one....which as you know from my build thread has its own challenges! Either way, we are being spoilt for choice. I am just happy we are going to see more Mossies being built around here! Happy days
  18. Just brilliant modelling skills Loic....true modelmaking
  19. Is anyone else getting confused as to where they are at with everyone's responses and replies with 2 threads running?? Maybe its just me getting old Great discussion all the same...
  20. I dont know but I would suspect Tamiya would do a new lower wing for the Corsair without the underwing lamp and flashed over holes??? I can imagine there will be some great decal options going into the works by a few companies now for this Mosquito.
  21. Haha, ok I will try. I will go to the hardware store today and get a 2inch paint brush to get that silver on quickly! Oh and a BIG tube of glue
  22. Lol, we had some late debate about the cushion with the Tamiya design guys....I laughed when I saw that too. They have a great sense of humour. I am just worried that my 24th Airfix one will end up on the 'Shelf of Doom' when my Tamiya kit arrives! After all that work......I hope I dont give up on it now. Cheers Anthony
  23. Yep, I can tell you a LOT of time went into this and is great to see it finally announced! I was very involved with this along (obviously)with several other knowledgeable parties. The Tamiya design team were very thorough in their research and we tried to leave no stone unturned. We unearthed some interesting details and I am convinced it will be a masterpiece when seen by all. I for one cant wait to see the first test shots built up, they were running to a tight schedule to get it ready for the show they said. Happy days Cheers Anthony
