Landing gear added and fuselage closed up. I had a lot of fun (sarcasm) with all the sticks and rubber bands. The fit wasn't bad but did need a little gap filling.

This kit only came with one engine so a little scratch building was "necessary" to make it look decent. This pipe on the right was cut off and replaced with one made from putty. Wires added using lead fishing wire. All painted, weathered, and flat coated.

Roof work was next, with the Live Resin FRIES bar, Eduard photo etch and scratch building. Rings were scratch built with steel and copper wire. The flat ends of the copper d-rings were done by crimping them with pliers. All painted and attached. Overhead controls done with painted photo etch. Seats hung but would be moved inside the bars as the gunners will not fit with the seats in this position.

The auxiliary fuel tank was reworked a bit. I sanded off all of the molded straps and used a combination of the PE set, aluminum foil and some metal wire to make real straps. Wall mounts and upper straps/rings are PE. Circular ring at the top left is wire, and the rest of the straps are aluminum foil. Strap texture made by rolling my hobby knife handle over the aluminum foil. Ratchets are from the PE set. Pleased with the final result after some more touch-up painting. Although I glued the straps to the tank, the folds and overlays give a realer look than the molded ones did.

After the figures, work began on the cockpit. Decided to use the pre-painted PE center console and dashboard. Not as much 3D surface detail but for something that is only visible through the canopies it looks quite nice. I did add a few extra details though (see comments on pictures below). PE dashboard sides and upper pedals. Braided "wires" added using braided string with electrical tape for the plugs. I don't love the string option but it is mostly hidden. Real braided wire was not malleable enough so next time I'll use lead. Painted the dashboard screens with a gloss varnish to imitate glass. Side view shows red switches and center joystick. Red switches were made from scratch (1mm x 1mm x 0.5mm - LxHxW) and joystick was an extra from the pilot figures set. Seats and pilots installed. Pilots don't fit perfectly in the seats but not bad. Trickiest part was getting them to sit right with their feet on the pedals.

I started with the figures. The pilots and flight engineers (gunners) were all painted with the same scheme. The three other soldiers were all painted in a different scheme. This was only done because I wanted to try three different looks which were mostly inspired by real Navy SEALs and the show SEAL Team. Hi all, This is my build of the 2003 1/35 Academy MH-60G Pave Hawk. This has been the most complex build I have ever done. I bought this kit back in junior high and only got around to starting it a few years ago (I’m now over twice the age when I got it haha). I have added Eduard interior and exterior photo etch, some Live-Resin figures, and some scratch building, which are all firsts for me. It is nearing completion but I will share photos and commentary from throughout the build. Hope you enjoy!

Pete, This looks truly amazing! I am currently building the Academy version and I am curious what you used for the rounded screen in the upper portion of the tail. It's the only screen/vent that doesn't come in the photo etch set and I'd love to replace it with something more real like you have done here. Thanks in advance for any help!
