For the life of me I cant take a good picture. Painted inside a lite coat of Humbrol Cement (Thanks Ron). Then using the wash technique I dirtied it up just a bit. Dont know if I achieved a good result or not but I dont think it looks too too bad. Almost done the can. Okay another try at it. Another try. Still looks better in real life. James
  2. Hi Guy, Ron has linked the build. From all the pics I've seen a used can still has the beigeish residue. I havent seen any that looked sooty until they were well used. I have a green base down (something I hadnt been aware of before) and now its just doing the weathering part. James
  3. Well I wasnt going to post any pics till I got farther along, but I guess I will. I have finally been able to get some building done and completed a few models. They are armoured subjects though and a figure so not something to show here. So with this build here area couple of pics of my progress. Cleaned up the cockpit tonight and now waiting on paint. AB is just waiting paint, and Wheel Wells done. Deciding if I will attempt the intake rebuild to go with the Zactoman splitters. Not really comfortable with it though. And thats about all to report. James
  4. Anyone got any thoughts on painting AB Can interiors? I'm looking for the dusty beigeish look of a used can. Got some Model Master Acrylic Jet exhaust, but while brushing it on a test piece it looks kind of goldish. Maybe lite coats from an airbrush look better. Would appreciate any thoughts and or paint combos, or the such. Thanks James
  5. It looks like a CF-116, it was fun to build, it brought back fond memories, so nothing to be bummed about. Looks good to me. I really have to do mine sometime soon. Well done. James
  6. Hey Dan welcome back. I was looking for updates a few weeks back. Lost the job at the museum, not enough education, but I'm back at the sim. Wanting to build a 104 and CF-116 for the building. I'll keep watching this. James
  7. I apologize up front if this has been hashed out before. But does anyone make an Air Force seat for the A1-H Spad? I'm lucky enough to be getting one for my B Day and have someparts I'm buying from a friend here, and have the Zotz decals coming. But from what little I understand I'll need a new seat. I guess I should ask about refs. I have an In Detail and Scale coming, anything else that might be a must have? Thanks inn advance for your help. James
  8. In my thoughts and Prayers Charles.Stay strong. James
  9. I thought about it and then figured no, I have to much stuff. But one can never have too much stuff, and if it will help reach the threshold then I will ask to be put down for one also. James
  10. Very sad. My thoughts and prayers to the family. RIP James
  11. Fantastic. Learn something new every day. James
  12. hi Ron. I think a 2 to 1 mix of Tamiya Aluminum and a light grey is pretty close to painted silver. As for the rocket rails, I think all the ones on the Mustang where rocket stubs, no joining rail. Hope that helps some. Looking really good so far. James
  13. Looks awesome Ron. Beautifully done. James
  14. Okay a bit of painting and such. Dry fit the exhaust and glued the struts to the bottom wing. Have top in place to ensure alignment. The top wing adds a lot of weight. Have more touch ups where I cut wing from sprue and struts from sprue. My thread came in from WNW but the decals where not there. Waiting for a reply from them. James
  15. Bit of dry fitting. Some touch ups and detail painting tonight then a gloss coat ready for when the decals arrive. James
  16. Have been plugging at this for a little while. Sorry, not much of a tale to tell. The Silver Grey was made by using a ruler and measuring from the bottom of a pill jar up. 1 tick at 1cm and another at 3cm. Grey to first tick and aluminum up to 2nd tick. Then poured into an Andrea dropper bottle. Here's the pics so far. James PS seatbelts are Radubs and exhuast is Tiger Model
  17. I am about to start on a P-51 in CEPE markings (Central Experimental and Propulsion Establishment) the forerunner of AETE (Aerospace Engineering and Test Establishment) and realized it has rocket stubs. Does anyone make those in 1/32? Might I find them in a Dragon kit? Thanks in advance for any help. James
  18. Looking good Ron. Watching with interest as I am building a CEPE aircraft. Leading Edge is coming out with decals shortly, I think he said next month. James
  19. Fantastic stuff. Now I'm kind of happy I got slowed down by the sink marks. Gives me a chance to act on your info. Thanks. James
  20. Way cool, but none of them the Sqns I need. Oh well more Mustangs it is James

I guess I just got a slightly worn one. As for detail, if I was to nitpick my only complaint would be a molded closed door to the bombay from the cockpit. But thats easy enough to fix. Right now though I have a problem with a pinched nerve and so lots of sanding is less than enjoyable. James
