SH Tempest Mk V "Kicked Up A Notch". January 14/21 New eBook!
skydivin replied to chuck540z3's topic in Works in Progress
Each of your builds out does the previous... What an outstanding build narrative this round. I think you have single handily increased sales on all the tools, glues, films, paints, etc. that you show. I know I have increased my warehouse of tools after following your builds. These companies should provide you a commission Thank you for always taking time to explain steps (sometimes several times), taking pictures, and keeping all of us involved. I stand by my original thought several builds back. We need the Model Tips by Chuck book.... Blessings to you and your family. Loyal follower - Rod -

Great build as usual...have a glue question. I noticed your assembled cockpit shows absolutely no excess glue around joints etc. I never seem to have that luck. Do you touch up paint after gluing to even everything out or do you use magic Chuck glue that always looks perfect? Super impressive. Rod -

Wow Chuck.. Great build... I have a question on gluing. I hope you have not answered this before so your not repeating yourself. When you have pre-finished parts like the engine you did & frame. What do you use to attach them together? I assume CA but thought I would ask. Do you scrape away any of the paint? Thanks Rod -
gotta find my jaw.... fell off somewhere 5 pages back! AWESOME WORK

It does and I didn't think about that gab being the cause. Needed to just step back and clear the mind.!!! Thanks for help. On your nose issue, there is a product I recently found (might have be old news to some) called PERFECT PLASTIC PUTTY by Deluxe Materials. I found it on Amazon. Dries quick and has a super fine finish. I have not seen any shrinkage or cracking. Good stuff so far. R -

Chuck, As I have followed and built by bird along with yours I am at the point of attaching the booms to wings. What I have noticed is the strain it appears to be putting on the center part of the upper wing and giving it droop when you pick up. (hope that makes sense) Did you put any additional support in the bottom side of fuselage (like right behind the radio area, to add strength? I was thinking of doing that but cannot figure out how exactly to do that. Just curious. Great build. Rod -

Again each new post is awe inspiring, motivating, and educational. Thank you for your posting. On the vents... Wings and under wing, did you just drill hole out or did you insert small tubing? R -

Chuck, Again great work... I have a question if you have time to answer. How did you finish your exhaust? Is it done with various ALCLAD? Looks great. -

Chuck, Really appreciate you taking the extra time to document this build. I started my own Trumpy in January and your processes and recommendations, even the tools you use, have taken my own building to another level. Not your level but a substantial improvement for me! I also appreciate the NON-condescending responses you provide to everyone's comments. I have seen many others that seem to be a bit big for their britches and instead of helping a fellow modeler, they belittle them and make them feel stupid. You have never done that and it is appreciated. GREAT BUILD! -
inspiring work! Really like the detail. Thanks for taking time to explain.

Thanks for the item numbers for Archer & great tips. One thinks of all these things but usually not all at the same time they are needed! This is a great reminder as well as new infor. I still think there should be the BOOK OF CHUCK....
