  1. Sorry.. Did not find the thread so thought it had been binned because the discussion was taking place elsewhere already.. I am still torn - the video did not convince me at all, I did not like that look. But the pictures posted here are really nice looking. This is kinda how I feel as well. But then I "cheat" in other areas perhaps. I guess it is quite okay to just chose what AM to use I guess. lol And right now, I do not feel as if I would get the same satisfaction with stuff looking like the 3D things in the video over painting the Tamiya cockpit or adding painted Barraduda Studios extras with placard-decals.. I might change my mind - the phots here are making me more curious, that is for sure! Yeah.. Yeah that is.. Wrong. But why would you be discouraged from painting those figures if you cannot make the most fantastic eyes? Because you do not get top score ina competition? That is a weird argument (for lack of better word, English is not my first language so I hope I do not sound like an ass!). - Just ignore the high end competition? But that double standard is just shitty, by the judge. IMHO.. Nice to see all the opinions and all the examples of good-looking 3D panels. That is what I needed I think. And I guess i might have been just as sceptical if I had been around when PE was introduced... And on the gloves - yeah! I started to use it since I thought that´s what the pros did. Ie you guys I was admiring the work on, here. But then when i started to use Alclad, it seemed pretty nice to protect the surface? I still use it when I clean my airbrush too.. But when I see a guy using gloves the whole build, with the same type I use to "check" patients.. Behinds. It makes me laugh a little..
  2. Yeah i guess I can agree on that, indecent..
  3. Remember - the AJ 37 is a 60s aircraft with a 50s (well, almost late 40s) anti-shipping missile (updated however). It is not today.. Alot of the avionics were pretty way ahead of its time too - it was very early with a HUD even (done the Swedish way with the bare minium so not overcrowded compared with some others).
  4. It does look pretty amazing when done though.. The splinter camo.. I kinda like the grey-grey J 35Js too however.. There is decent conversion kit for the trainer. No silver ones used the Falcons iirc.. Those were early As and Bs perhaps. Falcons were used by Fs and Js iirc - and those were in the blue-grey and green - or whatever you call them, or the air duperiority grey-grey for most Js later on (as JA 37s).
  5. Yeah I agree. They looked really nice and seemed to be pretty prominent on that scene!
  6. Give them a heads up before they get it wrong? And get the to realize many want Danish ones..
  7. We are talking Aj 37 mainly, which main purpose was to launch RB 04Es at an invading Soviet fleet. Kinda makes sense with those tactics though. What should they do otherwise you mean?
  8. Oh yeah, forgot she is in it! She´s Swedish so kinda down to Earth..
  9. That is cool..As a kid I liked the Drakens mroe (saw the ones from F10 wing above me often). but now I like the Viggen more.. A buddy of mine, spent a week or two, as you did in 7th and 8th grade at a workplace at F 10 wing, watching them.. As well as AJSH, AJSF and AJS 47 Viggens.. Where did I go? To a bakery (eating donuts!) and then a nuclear power plant (chemistry department, so got to come very close to the "action"!).. Still, I was jealous.. Koenigsegg is in one of the old hangars last time i heard - even using that old Ghost emblem from one of the F 10 squadrons.. Last flgiht of Johan 56 - well, at F 10 anyway! The only ones flying the J 35Js (the J is even for F 10, the tenth letter). They sure sounded cool as they came racing low over the Kattegat.. But had I beena kid in the uk, I would have felt the same for a Lightning or a Tornado.. I would not mind seeing the Danish Drakens.. Strike Fighters, with much strenghtened wings and that gorgeous green camo. Loved the older one which faded heavily.
  10. Yeah I´m not saying the SwAF were the only ones. But it was deemed the best option at the time, seen to threats and what not. It was merely an explaiantion on why it was the way - it was.. The Viggens (the AJs here really) would mostly need to fly like this over quite flat terrain and over the baltic. And it was THE striking force for Sweden. It did not (necessarily) have the NATo behind it. There were very well thought out reasons and tactics for it all. It was hardly to "look cool flying fast and low". https://aeroseum.se/british-pilot-and-viggen/
  11. Any hot chickz in it by the way? That´s important.. Should really get my ass off to the cinema. Was a loong time ago..
  12. Yes that is true, there is a rembrance room at the Defence HQ in Stockholm with all the names and stuff. SwAF had the same rules and regulations in peacetime as would apply for a situation of war. So, at the beginning they flew 10 meters above the water and 20 above land.. (Later upped by 10m each though). They trained hard. With probably very realistic expecations. There are some good documentaries, I´ll see if they are availble in English. But in the case of a Soviet attack, the time the Air Force would last (and same for the Navy) against a massive invasion force was not many days.. But for the attackers like the A 32As and later AJ 37s, if there was a heads-up in decent time, that would give them a good chance to cause very heavy casulties against such a force. The Navy expected a run or maybe two, to mine an area or make one torpedo attack. The mask the ships and bring out the SMGs for the crew.. It was hardly very bright expectaions of what the future would hold but do as much damage as possible ina short time span and then hope that NATo was also involved and had some reinforcements to send.. Not really. Sweden had much higher attrition rates than the USAF when compared. When that was realized, kinda at the beginning fo the AJs going operational iirc - it was also found out that the SwAF was doing it a little too much. You could save both lives and equipment with quite a few more clever things. Sure, aircraft were different in the 50s, 60s, 70s - but the SwAF had very high attrition rates - by a combination of pushing it very, very far - and a little too far. Which was steered up over time. One third of the A 32As were iwritten off in accidents for example. It became much better during the AJs´ introduction and much better yet during the JAs´ introduction. The threat was very much real though and there was not many other options. Joining the NATO maybe? But NATO actually benefitted from Sweden NOT doing that - it was a huge buffer with a very strong defence to overcome for the Reds - but with a very hard excuse attacking.. (The strategic position made it kinda hard not to in the case of something like what happens in "Red Storm Rising")
  13. ..was kinda happy for the decals today, two packages, including this. Couple of Luzon P-51Ds I think suits me perfectly.. Not that old but I´m older than the guy who flew Dirty Old Man (he was 24!).. Hilarious subjects though!
  14. Some nice stuff indeed.. :9 Especially envious of the M8/M20 and M18 books..
  15. That shelter is nice though.. Same-ish as in that last vid above. Also looks like "stridsbälte 304K" some had to endure before getting more modern stuff after boot camp.. (garbage ass stuff with space for enough ammo for way too few Russians.. )
  16. It costs a fortune WITHIN Sweden so i can only imagine.
  17. Hey, I can relieve you of it! So you don´t have to "suffer" anymore!
  18. Depending on the time period - you might need long-haired, scabby-looking conscripts derping around the aircraft.. (The *Elite* went to the cavalry, not the Air Force.. Don´t ask where I was..) Was a bit better in the 90s I guess.. The Draken´s ground crew here is.. Early 80s.. (Or late 70s maybe..)
  19. So, where´s the re-release of the P-47M?? Nice that Hasegawa are pushing out some of the big, old bird though.
  20. Yeah, those are it as far as I know.. Pilot Replicas makes some 1/48 vehicles you can have a look at too..
  21. I have not seen the 1984 one but I watched JoBllo´s YT vid on it today.. Intrigued.. They also have a review of the new one.. Is the 1984 one worth it, now, before the new one?
  22. Yeah, agreed. I think it is worth it. Some AM is not - this saves time and sanity..
  23. I used DN model´s mask for my first 1/48 JA 37.. It did not feel reuseable afterwards.. But i guess with care, it is "possible".. Just.. Why? There is Maestro´s mask too, made by Eduard I think. Used both. Cannot say one is better - iit did not feel that way (for 1/48 anyways) Yeah, it feels more JA as well! To me the tow-tone grey is THE JA camo. Splinter is for AJs and SHs. Now, some JAs did retain the splinter (to make it harder knowing for potential enemies what they saw - fighter or attacker?) - but it made quite a lot of difference having the air superiority greys. That´s why the day glo was sued, it was a little too effective during exercises and practice dog fights.. It can be done.. But it takes alot of time.. Seen a couple of building threads on smaller models. In this case, I gladly pay for a mask though!
  24. Watched this guy recently, I actually very recently started to look at You Tube builds.. And I like his builds but.. ..those 3D decals? Maybe it has been discussed already - and maybe this guy is here? Anyways.. I am not convinced. Atleast not that it is "The Future". I much prefer etch and decals. I would not want to switch my painted kit details and Barracuda placards and stencils (for example) for those side panels in 3D decals.. What are your opinions? And where is the thread I have missed that discusses this already?
  25. But then if I read the books..? I read some Asimov in school but can´t remember which ones..
