Thanks Brady, The floats are EDO Model 78-29400 amphibious floats Length: 42 ft Beam: 5 ft 8 in Depth: 5 ft So, in 1/48 they are 10.5" long, and in 1/24... 21". As for plugging the bays... To the best of my knowledge, they just fitted the strut to the mounting point for the wheels, and closed the gear doors. Since the tires normal poke through, there already was a nice hole for the strut. I have a few good static shots of the plane, I'll see if I can dig them out. Might not be till tomorrow though. But here is my working drawings, and a pic of the laser cut stuff going together.

Couple of good videos on the subject. I have the floats all drawn up and done for laser cutting for 1/48 and 1/24 (for a float on a flatbed dio). After the first cutting, I need to make some adjustments to the design. I may even just go full 3D printed. Still working on it.

It was listed as 1/24. I have several of the 1/72 LS kits. They are nice, but.... VERY small. Hell, at 1/1 this plane is small (12' long, wing span 17' to 22'). I have seen RC planes bigger than the 1/1.

Thanks for the pointers guys. I am NOT a figure guy (although I do have figures in my product line - I didn't sculpt them :-)) I had no idea where to even begin. Those figures from Wings in the UK look good. But at £15 w/o the S&H... Ouch!! Thanks. I need more parts to continue... Too bad my Wanted post got removed.It's FOR a 1/32 build?? He said yes, but that it would be easier to start from scratch, than to chop that build up. Hence the need for more parts. We changed it from 1/24 to 1/32 to give the car part a little more substance. The base cars we are using are on the smaller size (compared to today's cars). We agreed on 1/32, no RADIAL/jet engines (only in-line engines), mostly open cockpits, and so far, only twin engines, and then start as CIVILIAN craft. The Great War ends quickly, a soldier named Adolph is KIA, so a second great war never happens.

Hey gang, Is there any good 1/32 pre-WWII pilot figures?? This is for What-If builds (pics below). Just a nice sitting (some standing would be nice too) figure, and separate arms and head would be great, but not a deal breaker. If I have too, I'll but a complete kit, but... If someone has some, maybe I could just borrow them for a little while?? I found Master Box out of the Ukraine that seem to make some nice figure sets for a reasonable price, but most of the better sets are 1/35. That would work, they would be just smaller people. With a little force, you should be able to pop it back off. Though you may break of fthe "snap" bit. But hey, that's what glue is for.

There should be NO seams anywhere. The whole ship, smooth as a baby's bottom. That raised Copyright info is a pain. Took me three tries to get rid of it. Sanded, primered, it popped right back up. Repeat. Ugh!!

I need a 1/64 747 wing as well, so since I have to scratch build that, I guess I'll scratch P-38M to go with (same project - I'm a Sci-Fi modeler mainly). It will be cheaper to get all the parts laser cut than get this toy. Yikes!! Great. now I have to hunt down a set of plans with cross sections for a P-38M. Ugh!! Too bad the engines are so completely invisible here. I would love to see what you could do with those.

Fine Molds reported the destruction of the molds to stop fans from bugging them about a re-issue. As far as those molds go, FM can do whatever they please with them, as they belong to FM. Well, except release Star Wars model kits, of course, since they no longer have the license to do so. Revell DOES have a license to produce Star Wars kits, and they will be using the FM molds. Actually, looks like FM will pop the kits for Revell, Revell will box and sell them. As for the quality of Sci-Fi kits: Hit and miss just like any other genre. The FM 1/72 Millennium Falcon, and the rest of their line are up to the aircraft kits from Tamiya and Hasagawa. And as you pointed out, the Polar Lights kits you have are a little less sophisticated. But the target market is a little younger. You don't want a 9 year-old trying to assemble the FM Falcon. And we still get re-issues of the old Lindberg line. Yikes. Some interesting subjects, but with flash you need power tools to get through. Besides, the design and quality of the sprue is completely irrelevant, as it's the parts that count.

Your work is just incredible. I'm surprised that the gear doesn't actual WORK. :-) Quick questions: Where does one get ahold of this aircraft "toy", and how much?? Thanks.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. That's too bad that there is nothing available. You would think with the popularity of this power plant that someone would have done one (at least in 1/32). Oh well. I have tones of reference photos... Derek B, thanks for that link. WOW!! Lots of good stuff there. Talk about inspiration. Or proof I should just give up. Not sure which yet. Out2gtcha, that engine looks pretty dang good. I mean, for being what it is. Nice work there. Gives me hope (along with that link) that something can be done with the kit part. Add some details up front, and once the cowl is in place... Most of it gets covered up anyway. I suppose if you where doing a cowl-off dio. or something, you would pretty much have to go crazy detailing out an engine. But that's not what I'm doing, so...

Hey all, Long time lurker, first time poster. I broke out my 1/24 Canadian Mist DeHaviland DHC-2 Beaver the other day. And quickly remembered why I put it away: The engine. Nice "kit", but that engine... YIKES. And, I have once again started working on my 1/24 Beech 18 (no plastic cut, just a crap load of drawings getting ready to cut plastic). Guess what?? It runs on TWO R-985s. So... I am in need of some good representation of this engine?? Any kits out there have one of these that's usable?? Or an after market resin kit?? I can always make one myself, of course. I have tons of reference. It would be better if I had access to a real one, or at lest a good set of drawings. But I don't. Thanks.
