Aircraft Silvers

I'm browsing through the stash and gravitating to either the Revell Hunter or Hasegawa F-104G for an upcoming build.

Having been ex-loop for some time I've been restocking paint and found the MRP line to both look good to me, and have a good reputation.

But I'm stuck on the underside colours mentioned in the title, as MRP suppliers in the UK are out of stock and have been for months.

 

So my question is about substitutes. Many online builds seem to go for a plain Humbrol 11 type silver, but my impression is that both silvers are a slightly greyed version 

rather than an overly bright silver. I'd like out of the bottle/tin suggestions for the sake of uniformity if I need to revisit the schemes on other subjects later on.

Hi Chek. 

Vallejo produce a range of metallic airbrush acrylics. 

Vallejo dull aluminium for example. 

 

This report gives a good look at how the colours turn out.

You might try adding some neutral gray to knock back the gloss and tint the silver.

Have you tried HM Hobbies here in the UK. They have a decent amount of MRP in stock, including some silvers.

Yep, I have. Them and Premium Hobbies are my normal go to places. I'm getting worried now they also won't have the Swedish colours by the time the JetMads Viggen is released.
